This is a great place for a three Michelin star Kaiseki experience. The food and presentation was perfect! There's also a book that is dedicated to the restaurant Kaiseki dishes which provides background on why the chef chose certain ingredients. I loved the fact that we get our own private dining room to enjoy this wonderful dining experience!!!

I was afraid it wouldn't live up to expectations, especially after having 5 other excellent Kaiseki meals prior to this, but our dinner did not disappoint! The private traditional dining rooms for each couple/group make it a very special and romantic experience, and the service is friendly and accommodating. The food was exquisite in presentation and quality. The only critique... More

One of the best meals I have had in my life and I went for lunch and got the bento! Excellent service and amazing food and flavors. When we left the head chef came to see us out and his staff got on their knees and thanked us for coming. Amazing experience! Do go!

The restaurant is in a lovely location and the service is excellent but the food is AVERAGE, at best. Save your money and go somewhere else!

Kaiseki cuisine is said to be the most refined cuisine of Japan and Kikunoi is one of its most revered shrines. The concierge of our hotel was astonished we'd managed to snag a reservation all the way from Delhi - put it down to dogged persistence. Anyhow course after incredible course arrived and was put away with due reverence -... More

We enjoyed everything including the garden view, the tranquility and the space to allow us to ponder and enjoy every single morsel of our meal. The lady who attend to us speak adequate English even though she keep apologizing for her language skill. We thoroughly appreciate the service, the environment they provide and the food. It is well worth the... More

We had a 3 hour long 20,000 yen menu and there were 13 courses. By the end of it we were full to the brim! Our favourites were the shark's fin hotpot, tuna sashimi with egg yolk sauce, radish with walnut miso. We were seated in a private room so the server checked in only at regular intervals, which seems... More

We've always wanted to try Kaiseki, a type of traditional Japanese meal. Then when planning for our trip to the historical city Kyoto, we decided to goto Kikunoi main restaurant. It's partly because Kyoto is known for its soft water that's great for making pickled vegetables and cooking. Now days, it's easy to book at Kikunoi through their website. We... More

Our first 3-star Michelin was a decade ago and we wanted to try a traditional Japanese version. It was mind-blowing with the level of detail in each food item. I can't imagine the steps taken to cook each item but I'm certain it isn't something I'd even try. It was Y104,000 for 2 people. Not bad!! It arrived as an... More

Not even a typhoon kept us away from our reservations at Kikunoi. It was an Autumn-in-Kyoto inspired 10 course menu. The level of service and setting takes your breath away. A private room fit for an emperor for just you and your guest(s).
Food - it came down to the food. It wasn't bad by any means. But we were... More
