Very small place and can easily miss...there were a few dishes that I have never experienced like the tofu skin (tasty but consistency may throw you off) and the Pork/cabbage dish (Kyoto sauce, 1st item on grilled list). Steak was great and the veggies were...More

Ask for Tenderloin steak and tenderloin foi gras skewer. You will have to wait but it really worth it. If you have good appetite take double steak.

Me and my brother had the set menus, cooked on the hot plate in front of us. That included squid and sardines. The squid was on the hot plate for no time at all and was then served to us - it was cold and...More

My family of four found the whole experience underwhelming. It took about 2 hours sitting in an oily, smoky, sticky small room to have an overpriced set of very small portion "meals". My sons had two portions of the set meal of chicken pieces, two...More

Visited here last night on the recommendation of our tour guide. Great atmosphere, attentive staff and lovely food. I showed Kelman, our server, my Japanese gluten free cards (you can download celiac cards in Japanese explaining what you can and cannot eat) He smiled and...More

It is a very good restaurant and the staff is really helpful. All three beef cuts are the best. Ask for the beef tongue. Chicken meatballs really good. Don't ask the Glass of beer, it's ridiculously small.

Pontocho
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's
most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow
street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's
busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls,
Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life,
making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to
come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and
bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly
