The famous kaiseki in town. Had lunch here during my last trip to Kyoto. Great selection of the seasonal dishes with beautiful presentation. The staff were polite and introduced us every dish in a very professional manner.

Excellent presentation and fine cuisine I've had in Kyoto. I rated it 4/5 as this branch is located in a huge complex where JR Kyoto Station is. Thus, it lacks the desired traditional Japanese building ambience, no garden of course. However, you can reserve a...More

We paid 120 Euros per person (around 140 dollars) for the Kaiseki menu to eat small pieces of fish and vegetables. So ridiculous. I felt cheated. I thought the Ikaseki menu should be a Japanese gastronomic experience, but this restaurant failed. Never go there again.

Paid 22000 yen excluding tax for a 9-course meal in a private room. Ingredients of good quality. Server was extremely polite and graceful. Spoke English as well, which was helpful and may have been because we booked online in English. No exceptional standout dishes, but...More

This is one of the worst meals I have eaten - at any price! But $120 per person with no alcohol - added insult to injury. The food was so mediocre - there was not a single course that was acceptable. The decor was beyond...More

Came here on recommendation of the concierge at Granvia Kyoto Hotel. Booked the private room (thus an added premium). The price was on the steep side for their Kaiseki dinner for the quality and quantity of food we received. None of the ingredients justified the...More

We went to Kyoto Kitcho on a weekday night. The restaurant was slightly difficult to find even though we knew it was situated at Hotel Granvia/Kyoto station. We had to ask the front desk staff at the Hotel Granvia to help us locate the restaurant....More

Our party of 5 went to Kitcho Granvia our last night in Kyoto. I had read that if you visit Kyoto you really should try to have a Kaiseki meal and, having done so, I totally agree. We chose the Granvia due to its proximity...More

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub,
Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining,
and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with
tourists and local business travelers, making it a
competitive location for ever-new commercial
structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and
trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains.
Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
