Café has a nice ambience. Coffee not too bad but not impressed by the serving staff. They do serve food besides the coffee. Note: They would want every customer to order at least one drink.

This cafe was fantastic and located nearby to us. Great atmosphere and delicious food and coffee. Make sure to visit the bakery next door for incredible bread and pastries.

Just as well we found this cafe on our last day in Kyoto, we could have spent way over our budget! The food is wonderful but it’s quite expensive. Mixed feelings about the table service.

We just returned from our second visit to the cafe. On the first visit we found the coffee good but not great and the lunch ok. Tonight we returned for a pastry and some tea. The waitress was really rude to us. We came in...More

Came here as friends recommended this...and loved it. You can relax and read a book - take one out of the enormous library they have taking up the wall space! Fabulous food as well...and nice coffee! Wrote my blog while there, the cafe was full...More

I walked by this place on my way to Kyoto imperial palace. The banana trees outside caught my attention. It’s small but it was packed at around 1pm. The drinks were ridiculously expensive and so was the food. My order was 950, but I don’t...More

Very very BAD SERVICE. Definitely one of the worst during my 3 weeks trip in Japan. I would not recommend to come only due to the bad customer service. Waitress was very rude and obliged all people sat at the table to have a drink...More

The Japanese lady owner is a great French Pâtisserie cook. Nice atmosphere and good young patrons, a bit of an intellectual touch through the display of international books and magazines. Good menu for lunch. It has also a nice small garden.

Eccentric but looking space, with palms outside. Books and coffee. We had lunch and it was delicious: a sort of french toast with fruit. Pleasingly cool fellow travellers, ranging from laptop riot grrlz to boy bands to families with Hermes bags. Go figure.

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
