It seems strange to eat French food in China but let me tell you if you get the opportunity to visit this place you must go. The food is exquisite, both in appearance and taste. We eat their regularly when staying on Shamian and we go every year. It is not expensive by Australian standards and you pay a lot... More

I had lunch here the other day and it was fantastic. Great to know you can get brilliant food in GZ. The steak was fantastic and the deserts are awesome. Will go back soon.

Finding myself exhausted from a day after walking in the Canton Fair and the city i wanted to go somewhere close to my hotel in Shamian. At first, hearing it's a French restaurant, i though that i was visiting China to eat French food and it seemed odd. Those thought vanished the moment the dishes started appearing. The food was... In Guangzhou for a birthday weekend and after a classic tour ( guanzhou tower and Opera area), today is the discovery of Shamian Island. It s true here it s a little touch of french and english architecture... And what is so important ? An excellent Frenchy restaurant with real taste of France , quality, service, decoration ... For 30€... More

The restaurant is in the nice old Guangzhou, and you get to eat in an original Orient Express wagon. The food is good, faithful to French cuisine. Service is good too.

Very eclectic atmosphere that hosts a massive selection of French inspired offerings. Interesting selections in all the courses, and the deserts may just tip the scales, but be warned to bring your appetite. The massive plates host significant offerings. The wine list is of course predominant French. The actual food was cooked and presented well, but not mind blowing. Menus... More

A haven from the hustle of Guangzhou. A great spot for lunch or a relaxing dinner. Food is very good and the atmosphere is relaxing

Nicely presented dishes but service was quite uncoordinated and although the prices were good the food was just a tad above ordinary. A strong emphasis on seafood may also limit the attraction of this place to many.

. . . for that matter! This is simply a fabulous French restaurant wherein I have happily dined many, many times. The food is excellent, the wine is good, the coffee is great and their loos are spotless, a rarity in China. Jean-Marc and his unforgettable wife, Bing, make every visit memorable.

Orient Express is a french restaurant under french management. The cuisine is real and authentic French and is not an approximate interpretation as it is often the case in china at “western”, “French” or “Italian” restaurants. It is located on the beautiful Shamian island in the center of Guangzhou. The restaurant has a large beautiful garden for outdoor dining. It also has a main dining room and two train wagons in the garden for romantic dining. It serves authentic French food for all budgets. The French cuisine combines traditional and authentic flavors with modern and original designs of the dishes. You will indulge yourself with:bourgogne snails,pan-fried goose liver with strawberries, fish tartare marinated and its red tuna sashimi, two kinds of fish carpaccio and its salmon cream,pan-fried scallops and black rice and asparagus,pan-fried sea food, grilled australien beef filet mignon with red pepper “crème brûlé” and crumble, grilled new Zealand lamp chops with houmous, babajanouj and roast vegetables, the traditional French bourguignon beef, french “Confit” style duck leg…It is a place visited by Chinese clients who are looking for an authentic French cuisine experience and come for birthdays, to ask their girl friend to marry, a special business meal or simply with the family. Many foreign business people as well as expatriate foreigners living in Guangzhou are regular clients.L’Orient express est un restaurant de cuisine et de gestion française.
