Quality of food- 3/5, service - 1/5 ( we were awaiting for almost an hour to get starters). So probably there was bad day but think twice prior to make an order.

The restaurant of Armenian cuisine is located in the center of the old part of the city near the monument to Minin and Pozharsky. The room is small, but cozy, without zoning. The walls are brick, with large red fabric lampshades above the tables with...soft yellow light. A large varied menu with classic Armenian and Georgian dishes. We took Aragats salad with fried mushrooms and tomatoes, eggplant rolls and meat on Us Panja skewers. Three medium-sized slices, soft, tasty meat. Meat and a glass of wine 250 ml - almost 1000 rubles. Quite good value for money.More

I visited BaklaDzhan mainly because my friends wanted to. I mostly avoid Caucasian cuisine, since most dishes include meat. I had a very nice time in the restaurant. The waitress was very eager to help me (IN ENGLISH) find a vegetarian dish, which I did,...and quite enjoyed my meal. The restaurant's atmosphere is great, cozy yet formal, the service quite professional and helpful. The shisha was also nice.More

Im a local. My office only 20 m to the corner. The usual price for a break-meal (or business lunch) at Rozhdestvenskaya street is about 270-350 roubles. BaklaDzhan serves it in several variants from 255 to 310 roubles. You can take a fixed meal or...make some choice from short menu. The food is ok. Portions are middle size. I definitely recommend if you only need some food for a cheap price. Mon-Tue 12.00-18.00 / Fri. 12.00-16.00More

You have to deal with the lousy service at times but the food is fresh and expertly prepared. Cuisine is a mix of Armenian/Georgian/Turkish with some deviations, also featuring some common Russian dishes. Portions are small, so if really hungry, prepare to order a few...dishes. Presentation gets high points. Some items on the menu are definitely worth trying. We had Artanish and Erebuni several times but their khinkali (Georgian dumplings) are a must. I particularly liked the lamb and found beef ones a little dry. Special skill is required to eat them, making sure you drink the broth inside a khinkali and eat the filling at the same time. Sounds simple? Not so much considering the size of a dumpling. They usually offer you a choice of complimentary wine or one other drink to start your dining experience. The semi-dry wine we were offered came from Serbia. It is drinkable (and free!) but if you like dry wines, stick to their Caucasian medicinal tea (non-alcoholic). It sounds strange but it is a healthy drink and tastes good. Check their business lunch specials and be prepared to wait for khinkali as they make them from scratch. Takes anywhere from 10 to 20 min.More

The restaurant position itself as a caucasian restaurant, it has a really impressive interior . The service is good, we were offered a free glass of decent wine which was very nice. However the food itself is just ok, it's an average side road type...and quality of food that you can find everywhere in Russia, here is why: * Chicken tabaka was not squashed nor flattened, had no garlic and was served with Korean marinated carrot, which I think is a crime - it was just a good cooked chicken but, not chicken tabaka in any sense * Khinkali were too dry and not the right Khinkali taste - just a pelmeny, with meatballs inside, with a long handle * salad leaves had traces of river sand that I felt on my teeth * the menu has uzbek lagman, shurpa, and ukranian borshch soups - not very caucasian at all * the background music choice is just terrible, the worst Russian gansta-popMore
