The restaurant is located near the Kremlin. The room is small, only three rooms, decorated in the style of the late 19th century. There is no business lunch, as well as discounts on the main menu at lunchtime. Measures against COVID-19 - the requirement to...maintain social distance, wear a mask, hand sanitizers on the tables, masked waiters. Overall a good place for lunch or dinner. A good place to try moonshine with traditional dishes - goes well with lard (Russian bacon). Worth visiting

We’ve visited Pyatkin for a family lunch, it was our second visit. The atmosphere and the food were amazing! Absolutely recommended, especially for tourists, who want to see old Russian style and to taste delicious Russian kitchen.

03/08/19 visited this restaurant. I liked the interior, dishes and table decoration. The waiter Gregory served us, this “genius” remembered without recording everything that we ordered and there were 9 of us. As a result, of course, how many dishes he missed, but we are...not offended. The biggest novelty of this restaurant was warm vodka and white wine and the answer from Gregory that the refrigerator does not have time to cool. And on the street at that moment it was freezing. The quality of fish dishes, their size is clearly not commensurate cost.More

We visited this restaurant twice as our first meal was such a comforting meal. The greeters were a bit standoff-ish however, Marina our waitress was lovely as was the atmosphere. The music appropriately suited our meal which was delicious and comforting on a cool night....The menu is extensive with all types of soups, salads and entrees. It would be difficult to not find something here unless one is a fast foodie. Try the stuffed cabbage and fresh juices.More

We stumbled across this quaint restaurant and fell in love with it. We came back for a second meal. Everything about it is excellent, from the decor to the staff to the food. We had a variety of dishes, including the Shchi soup, the borsch,...the cabbage rolls, and local berry pie. All of it was outstanding. Marina did a wonderful job taking care of us. If you get to Nizhny, make sure have a meal here. You will not regret it.More

From the moment we entered this charming establishment the staff were attentive to or every need. We started with some soups and dumplings all of which were great. Main course was Beef Stroganoff, cabbage rolls and an eggplant dish. Other than the cabbage rolls the...food was delicious but the rolls were tasteless. All in all a great experience at a very reasonable price.More

I do not why this restaurant is best in Nizhny Novgorod... It has a retro design. First I ordered chebureki, they did not have them, then I ordered duck, they did not have it, the last one I do not remember but the outcome was...the same - finished. Pork steak was okay, big portion, tasty. I would recommend to try modern Russian drinks that thought to be brewed in old times - "Elakha" and "Medovukha". Elakha is a draft drink, Medovukha is from the bottle. If you order fried potatoes with mushrooms, do not expect to find too many mushrooms. Thick mushroom soup is not as thick as it could have been. The prices are lower compare to the ones in Moscow.More

As with many of my choices, a big thanks to the Lonely Planet for this one. A converted merchant's house with a great and interesting menu--pigs ears with mustard, pea soup with smoked meat in a rye pot, calf kidneys in sour cream--and beautifully presented...food. Staff welcoming and friendly. Worth the slight detour from the centre of NN to get there--plus you get to see interesting sights on the way there and back.More

We wanted an authentic Russian dinner and this fit the bill. The restaurant is beautiful and gezellig (cozy)! The service was great although there was not much English spoken. The menus were in English however. If you want to step back in time, go, have...a lovely dinner and then tea from a samovar. Then walk it off with the 100+ stairs back up to the upper city!More

This place was recommended on lonely planet. The interior design was very cute, filled with antiques. I had the sturgeon fish (800+ rubles for two pieces), baked veggies and an apple kavas. I loved the taste of the food. But the waiting time was a...bit long (even though I came in at 3pm, I still waited an hour to get my food). 20minutes after I got my food, when I was still working on it, the server came several times asking me whether I was done.More

The location is nice overall and the building itself was carefully restored. So was the interior - true antique items, here and there, comfry and attractive. During the lunchtime the place was not crowded so we had plenty of choice where to land down in...the room - they have three, in an enfilade. The staff was friendly and helpful, so we asked for some homemade apple lemonade (kvas) which was brilliant - refreshing, crispy and bitter-sweet. I was expecting the food to be nice as well but in fact kvas remained the highlight of the whole meal. Regret to say, Pyatkin's food was completely uninteresting. We ordered some starters (salted mushrooms, kidney pie were ok but ordinary, jelly meat (kholodets) and tripe roll were something we did not like). Also we had sourcrout soup and thick meat and vegetable soup (solyanka) - both were ok but also mediocre. The main course we had was stroganoff meat - it turned to be so oversalted that was even dropped off from the bill. Also there was a pike perch with potatoes - the first good one I could mention after kvas.More
