upon arrival we were entertained by a Chinese woman, asking what sort of seafood we would like to have. We (My partner and I) were looking for fish and tiger prawns. So we got to choose our meal (alive) - p.s I felt bad but that's life. a 1kg of tiger garoupa cost us rm 92.00 which I think reasonable... More

Good selection of fish and shell fish including clams, crayfish, oysters and mussels plus prawns of every size imaginable mostly kept alive in tanks for customers to select. Staff were knowledgable, helpful though maybe a little pushy . Many prawns and fish in the tanks had seen better days and careful selection is advised. Food was well cooked but no... More

There are many seafood you can choose by yourselves. The prices are not expensive while compared with HK. But I think the seafood here are not cheap as locals.

If your looking for decent fresh seafood cooked to order with amazing tastes and options on cooking choices with a wide variety of spices and flavours look no further, the setting is rather grim.. in a little square that could really do with a face lift but look beyond that and you will not be disappointed! The friendly staff will... More

The seafood is very good (you should look at the size at some of the items), the cooking is good, the service is good but choose a table in the air conditioned area because it could be rather hot eating alfresco.

The restaurant tables and identified by their unique color... More

Everytime I set my feets on Kota Kinabalu, I will have dinner here. It's cheap, crowdy and hot(even with air conditioning). But it surely will serve you good food. That tiger shrimps on spicy cream sauce, fresh clams, fishes and that stir-fried morning glory! Oh my god, I'm drippling now... Please be reminded to take those satay from a kiosk... More

This is the place to have the best seafood in Kinabalu. We can choose the prawn, the fish, and clam while they are still alive. So it is definitely fresh. They cook the dishes quickly...and very responsive with your requests...

Anyone would enjoy Suang Tain but sometimes it's really overrun with mainland Chinese tourists, so it can be too noisy. Offerings are fresh, service is impeccable but it's not cheap, quite easy to get to MR 100 per person. If you can skip alcohol, there is a nice little open-air seafood market by the ocean just north of the Filipino... More
