First thing first about wakayama- the ramen that reignite the nationwide sparks on ramen. Less than 3 mins taxi ride from jr station (have a toddler in tow!) ,or 15 mins walk from it. A small place, people cuddle together. Very nice of the owner to arrange a sitting for us with my active toddler. Yummy ramen, especially on a... More

They said Ide Shoten is the best ramen in Japan.. Well, all I can say is its the most well balanced ramen I have eaten in my life. Noodles: They are firm and perfectly cooked. They're bouncy yet juicy. This already is an accomplishment on its own. Broth/Soup stock: The broth is delicious without any trace of fat yet full... More

Apparently the must-eat in Wakayama - it's even on the poster of Wakayama tourism by the official Wakayama tourism association. The restaurant is set up differently from typical ramen places eg those in Tokyo where you are seated at the bar overlooking the kitchen (I like that more, you can watch them cook). Maybe this is just what Wakayama ramen... More

Decided to try this ramen since Wakayama is a ramen town. Arrived from Singapore at 11pm and walk about 8mins from Granvia Wakayama to this ramen place. Overall different ramen style as the broth is much thicker though a little tad salty for singaporean taste bud. But still very good noodle texture and value for money meal (chose the standard... Wakayama ramen has this funny dried fish smell. And it all adds to the flavour. The soup here is so distinctive, I'm yearning for more as I write. Only now do I know that the flavour grows on you far beyond what you experience while you're eating there. One of the greatest tasting ramens I've ever had.

We were looking up where to get some late night ramen, and this place popped up. It was kind of hard to find but it was surely worth it. Only one of the crew understood english but at least she did help us since the menu was only in Japanese. They only serve one kind of ramen (tonkotsu broth i... More

Not the best, a little bit salty. But not bad to try since 700 yen is cheaper than buying food from vending machine. Arrived there at midnight, the shop still welcome me with smile and good service. Very small place, but felt like home.

I went here with 2 friends after a long day of traveling. The ramen was delicious and reasonably priced, and the food came out quickly! Staff were very friendly too! A great meal for a cold winters night!

Visited ideshoten after reading about it from multiple reviews and tour books. It is a very small shop, not very flashy. We came here for dinner, and at first we thought we had lost our direction as we did not recognise the building to be a restaurant. You can recognize it by its strong broth smell from outside. The menu... More

Ramen is a must try food in Wakayama. Among others, we selected this one, and it didn't disappoint us. The soup is well balanced, and the BBQ pork is tenderly melting in the mouth. It would be perfect, if the store could have chili pepper in addition to pepper and salt on the table.
