Hitsumabushi is a Nagoya specialty and served all over town but Atsuta Horaiken claims to have invented it. Hitsu refers to the bowl of rice the eel comes served in. There are multiple Matsuzakaya buildings: the restaurant is in the building with the electronics floors. Enter from the Hisaya Dori east entrance. You can take the elevator to the 10th... More

Went there at around 6pm to avoid long queue and waiting. Good unagi (eel) set. Very tasty, however, slight strong in MSG as I feel a bit thirsty. They provide a guide for tasting the eel, and service is good!

Best eel in the world!! The mall opens at 1000 and the place opens at 1100. There will be a long line, but worth the wait!

Very good eel and rice dish but not the best I've had. I would still rate the dish 8/10 and would definitely go back. Long que outside but didn't have to wait long. Fast service, food and was delivered quick and correctly. They have English menu as well. We also had the Tempura set, it wasn't as great (7/10). Nothing... More

We arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes to 1630 there were around thirty people waiting. The restaurant open for dinner from 1630 and we were treated to our table around 15 minutes on the queue. The menu is very simple and there are not a lot of choices other than the eel rice bowl they are famous for. We order... More

The wait was horrendous, the wait was around 2-4 hours, and the food was way too overpriced for the same meal you could get somewhere else. The food tasted unique but that was about it.

You can miss every restaurant but you don't muss this restaurant. You have to use time to wait 1-2 hours, by only one people to book qouta and the other can go shopping.

We enjoyed the yummy eel (not fat but very tasty) to the full although it was only a set dinner. We later found out how to use up the bottle of clear soup that came with the set. We were very happy and satisfied with our choice.

It's the best Eel i ate in my life .I tried both grilled eel liver and HITSUMABUSHI . The hitsumabushi was eaten in different ways and I like it best with finely sliced chives, shredded seaweed and wasabi.it was excellent.I will definitely eat it again when i am in Nagoya.
