I might have had high expectations. It's just katu restaurant with traditional Nagoya miso source. And the smell of pork was too strong and I lost my appetiser, couldn't finish the meal. Source is delicious but nothing special. Wouldn't try again.

Despite the long lines out the door, staff are efficient taking orders before you enter...we waited for about 30 minutes but food was ready as soon as we sat...only problem are the inconsiderate diners who linger around long after they finish their meal...as for the food, while the tonkatsu is good, 1700 yen is way too much for tonkatsu...not worth... The staff are effecient. The line may look long but it moves. However the food was ok. I have tried lots of fried pork cutlets and they was ok. The miso curry sauce was fun to try.... But just ok. Glad I tried it. It is worth it to see what all the fuss is about. But nothing to brag... More

Yabaton is a great option to try the local Nagoya specialty miso katsu. However, they know that they make it well so they overcharge a little bit. While it was really good, I felt that the price was a bit unfair considering the price of katsudon in other places. However, if you can afford it, I would go there!

One of Nagoya's specialty dishes, the red miso katsu was delicious and enjoyed by the whole family. We visited on a Saturday night but gave it a miss as the queue was very long. We tried again on a Tuesday night when there was no queue. Service was efficient and the pork was juicy and covered with delicious miso sauce.... More

We were a part of 5 and waited 45 min to an hour to be seated. Yes there is a line to wait in however most pastries were being seated before us. Why? Because they had 1 table to sit 5 on the second floor. Could they have put two smaller tables together? Of course, however thinking outside the box... More

Deep fried pork with a special miso sauce using Nagoya's Hatcho miso. Teppan Miso Katsu comes sizzling on an iron plate. Filet Katsu is tender and easy to eat.

So far, this is my favourite place for miso cats. The sauce is not too sweet plus there is a good meat-fat ratio in the tonkatsu. We also had a serving of ebi furai during our visit, which was also good.

I love this pork cutlet for 30 years. Especially "waraji tonkatsu" with miso sauce is perfect! "waraji tonkatsu" is like a schnitzel in Vienna, I think. You may have another bowl of rice for free. I recommend here.

Along with Yamamotoya (misonikomi udon), this is a must visit any time I'm in Nagoya. You can get tonkatsu anywhere but misokatsu (tonkatsu with mid sauce) is a local delicacy. Nagoya is famous for its cuisine using miso. This is popular with locals so be prepared to wait.
