For dinner we had a chicken breast (overdone) and spanish rice which was fine. Service average. Prices maybe a little higher than they should be. Nice location.

The location is great hence the very good rate also our waiter was friendly and welcoming exchanging Spanish for English phrases. The food was ok and depended on what you chose. Not fine dining but we found that generally the food served in this restaurant...was at least edible.More

Spent a few evenings in this place. Lovely spot, good food, cold beer and a great waiter. A perfect spot to just chill and do nothing.

The only good thing about this place was service and beer. We ordered a bunch of seafood dishes: fired calamari, garlic shrimps, mussels. All of those tastes as if taken out of a freezer! Did not feel fresh, little very well spiced. Although we thought...we were ordering entradas (appetizers) the portions were quite large. We paid an insormous check of over 2400 Uruguay pesos. Way too much money for the horrible food. Based on our experience I Would not recommendMore

I have been here on a number of occasions. The views from the terrace are astounding - the old main square, the lighthouse, the sea. The service is excellent, the food and wine is very good. Highly recommended.

This was the ONLY place in Colonia where I had a really bad experience... the reastaurant looks very nice, we chose if for dinner because it looked very cozy with their tables outside on the cobbled streets. Staf was slow and at times they were...even rude on their manners... we never got a single smile from the waitress. I really don´t mind that if the food is delicious... or good at least.. but it was none of that either. It was simply bad, WAY OVERPRICED and main dishes are starters-sized. I asked for a Capresse salad and whay they brought me was a dish with literally, 4 chunks of cheese, 4 LEAFS of basil and 3 slices of tomato... WHAT ?? One of my friends had Stroganoff beef with noisette potatoes and she also felt it was bad... another friend ordered salmon with mashed potatoes, also bad and quite cold. We had to go elsewhere after we had finished for coffee with a slice of cake because we were so hungry and upset that wasted our money on terrible food. Be aware of this place and avoid at all costs!More

Having walked around the area in hot conditions, stopped at this bar for a well deserved cold drinks. Seats outside under sun parasols on cobbled area, meaning seating never quite seems secure. Usual offers on menu, but didn’t feel tempted to eat there as inside...was too warm and a little dated. Beer was good.More

Went for lunch seated outside, server was attentive but food was boring and lacking seasoning... bad dollar exchange rate, worse in Uruguay after 5 days... pay is pesos if you can.

The Pulperia is a lovely restaurant inside and out, situated in the historic part of Colonia. It is a great spot just to hangout and be. It does not offer WiFi which is both good and bad. The food was average to good depending on...regional tastes and preferences. I had their beef stroganoff and mashed potatoes. I liked that they served half sizes and the smaller portions was more than I needed. The meat was not as tender as I would want for a stroganoff the potatoes perhaps the best part of the meal. I also had their lemon pie. It was perhaps a bit too sweet for my tastes...the topping appeared to be marshmallow...and the base shortbread. Still a lovely time.More

We sat here mainly because it was on the main square and had a large patio where our three kids wouldn't cause much of a disturbance. The food was passable but wholly unremarkable. The rice with seafood was the best of the lot. In retrospect...I wish we would have gone just about anywhere else, there seem to be plenty of places with a bit of culinary imagination around Colonia.More
