We always like eating where the locals eat and the Altmar Hotel is such a place. It is not fancy but the food was good and more than plentiful. It looks like chicken wings are very popular (they even had gluten free chicken wings) but...I got a quesadilla and my husband got meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Both meals filled us up. We were there on a Friday night and the place had families as well as groups of men who looked like they had been fishing all day. There isn't any beer on tap but there are beer specials. The menu indicated that Saturdays are prime rib nights. The one waitress taking care of the dining room was busy, efficient and very friendly. We would definitely go back.More

Stopped with friends on Saturday night. We were late for the Roast Beef special but had chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs, and wings. Delicious food and VERY AMPLE portions. Excellent prices.

This is the second time we have been in the area and eaten at this place and enjoyed our meals both times. We had the prime rib, it was done perfectly. Very busy place, loud as well as it really is a bar with a...small dining room to the side. Not an intimate place for dinner, but very good food and good service. One of my favorite places to eat in the Salmon River area. Food is amazing and service is always with a smile.

The Altmar Hotel is one funky, fun venue. The food is inexpensive and amazingly good. Several friends of mine called this locale a "biker bar," and the night we went there were indeed a number of motorcycles. But the atmosphere is far more local folks...having fun. There was live music--and quite good as entertainment--and several women dancing to some of the songs. But I come back to the food, which is noteworthy and priced far lower than its quality. If you're in the area, give it a try. The friends I mentioned in the beginning of this review have been going for years, and they're both from two states away.More
