I was wary of coming here after reading some of the reviews, but we weren't disappointed. It was close to where we were staying and most of the reviews are very positive. We ordered a fish, some soup, and a stir-fry to accompany and it was all really lovely. Great setting, lovely ambience, and popular. If you want a table right by the water, you'll need to book ahead.

There was a lovely atmosphere at the Good Times Restaurant. My friend and I were staying in the resort for 2 nights and were at the restaurant at around sunset on our first night. The view over the river was very picturesque.
The staff were very helpful and even supplied mosquito repellent as it was the evening.
The food was great - I had the deep fried fish which was very delicious.
Overall, a pleasant experience :)

On the river, we escaped the hustle and bustle of Bangkok for a short 3 hour drive to Kanchanaburi to eat on the river. We chose Good Times based on a breakfast I'd had a number of years ago when cycling around SE Asia. We weren't disappointed! the food was very very good... Thai was spicy as we like and western perfectly cooked. We'll be back once agin next time on the River Kwai. Thanks very much. Kids can also feed fish.

This place is apparently very well-known to foreign tourists and was surprisingly crowded the night we went there. Our experience was quite disappointing though. The service was slow and not particularly friendly, and the food was surprisingly poor. I ordered a fillet (after reading positive reviews from others about it), but the beef was tasteless, undercooked, and overpowered with rosemary. My wife's pad thai was also pretty tasteless and lacking in true Thai pad thai seasoning. At least the chips served with my fillet were excellent and the beer was cold. The live band, playing mostly oldies, was OK, but not impressive. At least for us, considering this place is rated one of the top-tiered restaurants in Kanchanaburi, we were very disappointed.

We went for dinner tonight expecting nice meal based on other reviews. My wife ordered the t bone steak cooked rare. Nice salad came with it. However steak was cooked medium. I ordered the deep fried barramundi with mango salad. Salad was very good but the cook placed it on top of the hot fish so much of it was very warm, not cold as it should be. fish was terrible. It was nicely filleted and then meat and carcass deep fried. The fish was way overcooked and dry. The skin was crunchy and some of the flesh was hard to chew. I could only eat half of it, the rest was thrown away. The whole meal only cost 1000 baht, about $30 usd, . But not worth the cost in my opinion. We are not picky eaters but this was one of the worst cooked fish I was ever served

Nice location , but spoilt by poor service and some of the dishes disappointing.
The sign says it is open till 10pm, but as soon as we’d ordered the food a woman came over and said do you want anything else as we close at 9pm it was 8.35pm by this time. I ordered the pork black soy stir fry noodles. It was awful, like eating a plate of slime the meat was chewy and gristly. My husbands parang curry was quite nice. As soon as we’d finished eating she bought the bill and hovered over my shoulder while we paid. All of the staff were not very friendly and the only alcoholic drinks they had were brandy, rum and beer.

We had been recommended this restaurant, and on first impressions we were impressed. Fantastic location along the river, and quickly seated, to a really nice spot.
Unfortunately, the food and service thereafter really let it down. At best the food was luke warm, and worst of all lacked much flavour. After initially serving the food, none of the staff came anywhere near us, so much so that when we had finished we had to go to the desk to pay for our food.
It really should and could have been a far better experience, we both agreed it was the worst food and service we had in a month touring Thailand😢😢

Beautiful and romantic place by the river. Food ok but nothing special. They make order on an iPad connected to the kitchen whitch make some food to come almost instantly and other food to follow in an 3-4 min intervall. My food came 5 minutes after all family finished dinner and wasn't very well cooked and tasty whitch was very annoying. Chef really bad on synchronisation food!! Be aware! Disappointing experience!

We went here for late breakfast/lunch. Breakfast stops at 10am but the lunch menu is very large with lots of options.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
I went for the chicken and mushroom pie and my partner went for the soup and the chicken burger.
The food was good value for money and nice, but not excellent. I would still recommend visiting especially for the wide variety of options on the menu, setting and staff.

Nice restaurant as far as atmosphere. Sadly, I chose to order a T-bone steak and quickly found that the western cuisine they offer falls pitifully short. Just fatty with very little edible meat.

Almost everything was perfect about our dinner here. The decor and ambience is great, the service excellent (when a better table became available midway through our meal we were offered the chance to move. With the exception of the satay, (why deep fried rather than grilled?) the food was very good.

We were greeted by friendly personnel and had a great place by the lake. Drinks and food were served very fast, again by very friendly personnel.
We had Pad Thai and Morning Glory salad which were both very good.
Would recommend 10/10.

In Kanchanaburi for one night, I searched TA for recommendations and liked the feedback on ‘good times’ though was a little wary with just one review this year. I shouldn’t have worried as our experience was really positive.
The restaurant is part of ‘good times resort’ so a hotel restaurant, not a stand alone.
We headed there just before sunset at 6pm and was glad we did. Great photos of the river at dusk. We were seated by the river and enjoyed a Thai meal. Two appetizers, a curry and a pad Thai and we were nicely full. Good size portions. Western options also on menu.
Service was very friendly and mostly positive though as the evening went on it became a bit more ‘spotty’ as families filled the restaurant. Maybe 50+ people still there when we departed at 8pm.
Overall for food, ambiance, service and location I give a solid 5.

They serve really good food. We were here a couple of times and we only got extremely tasty food. Here we just have to mention their tom yom goon, their panang chicken, and then dres fried fish.
The service is also top notch, we only got top service.

We stayed in Kanchanburi for 2 nights. Having walked the length of the strip where tourists tend to visit for nightlife, Good Times stands out as a great spot located right on the riverside. The food was very sensibly priced, decent quality. Excellent service and great atmosphere too. I reckon there were as many people eating in this restaurant as in all the others combined; that tells you something about its appeal! Recommended.
