Upon arrival in Kanchanaburi from Bangkok we had no idea which restaurant to have lunch so decided on Keeree Tara and we weren’t disappointed. The place is clean, had plenty of parking and is a stone’s throw away from the bridge. Try to pick a table by the edge to get a fantastic view of the river. We ordered mostly local Thai food and skipped the river prawns as the waitress was honest enough to tell us that the prawns weren’t fresh from the river. Price is very reasonable.

We really wanted to love our visit here as the architecture and the ambiance are lovely. Plus there was a delightful young man playing lovely music while we dined. But our meal was like something out of a bad comedy show as we couldn’t communicate with the wait staff (we speak English). Our waitress couldn’t figure out if we wanted a cocktail or mock tail even though we clarified our choice multiple times. We think we got a mock tail. We ordered two soups and two mains and three of the items came out at once with one soup coming much later and rice later than that. In the meantime, we were having an impossible time ordering glasses of wine as my husband kept pointing to the wine he wanted and they kept bringing a different, more expensive bottle. And we thought our hand signals had confirmed we were ordering wine by the glass but eventually realized we had ordered two bottles! We don’t expect the Thai people to speak our language but would think a high end restaurant in a tourist town would have at least one staff member who could clarify issues.
The dishes are very spicy as others have said. Just be sure to ask for less spicy if that’s your preference. But I doubt they’d understand your request!
A memorable meal for all the wrong reasons!!

Wide array of thai dishes at high prices (the venue was nice), no real complaints about the food as it was good and flavorful. However the service could use major improvements there were multiple times we saw a server bring our food .... walked around and didnt even give it to us only for another server to call him back and give us our food (???). When we ordered extra rice/drinks half the time it never showed up and nobody said anything and we had to remind them. Just getting a bottle of water somehow took 20 mins. If they could fix the service issue it would be a 5 star experience.

If you can, get a table on the river - the views are beautiful and complement the good food. Menu provides a wide assortment of typical Thai dishes that are well presented and tasty. Recommend ordering from their recommended list - you cannot go wrong and they present a good selection. Service is efficient and prices are reasonable.

This is a very impressive modern looking restaurant in a wonderful setting with riverside tables looking out to the Bridge over the River Kwai. Our food, beautifully presented, was clearly prepared by a highly skilled chef. Prices were reasonable. Great entertainment was provided by a talented singer high above us. Staff were very smartly dressed in matching outfits.
So why am I only giving this place a middling rating? Read on….
Given that the signs in the car park had English words, and the menu had English translations, you might have expected at least one member of staff to have some rudimentary knowledge of that language. We are talking about a hospitality business after all. You might think that there would be an anticipation that english speaking British, Irish, American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand etc tourists might want to eat here given the WW2 history attaching to the rail line and the town’s iconic bridge. But that was not the case on the evening we visited. Not one word of English was spoken or understood by the young servicing staff. From ordering our drinks to communicating our meal choices, everything was a linguistic challenge. What a shame.
Even though I’d I tried my best to request separation of starter and main course when ordering, all food ordered came simultaneously, massively detracting from our experience. The serving staff hadn’t a clue even after going away to consult with colleagues. Consequently much of our food sat on the table getting cold as it all came at once.
Recommendations:
1) If you want a separate starter, don’t order the main course until you’ve eaten the starter
2) Be careful how much food you order in the first instance. Portion sizes are large.
3) Watch out for spicy. We tried to go for milder tasting options but even this had quite a kick
In conclusion, I would have loved to give this restaurant a huge thumbs up. There are many good things going for it. But having staff unable to understand and respond to simple customer needs is a huge failing.

Restaurant is located near bridge over River Kwai so it comes with good view if your table is outdoor. Service and food decoration are fine according to restanrant standard. Price is acceptable. If you stay at U inchantree hotel, it's within walking distance.

Amazing riverside restaurant that serves very authentic Thai food. The entrance from the carpark feels like a grand entrance to a 5-star hotel. Situated at the back of the building lies 2 floors of seating area for the restaurant. There's one that is slightly elevated to give a more panoramic view of the river, and another on the lower floor that brings you closer to the river. I was there after the sunset, but I can imagine how wonderful the views would be in the evening. Nonetheless, the night view is equally mesmerising. Food was fantastic. Service was on point but probably because we were here for official business and they had some staff dedicated to our table.

Lovely setting on the river. Expensive for Thai standards. I ordered a mineral water, thinking it would be carbonated, but received plain water. Not even cold. Possibly my error there. My meal of tofu and vegetables was nice, without being fantastic. Another member of the group had deep fried squid and it was so tough as to be practically inedible. Just didn't feel like it was good value when there are quite a few other options along the river.
Would have been nice if the waitress put the fan on for us as it did get hotter the longer we sat, and they were available but just not turned on.

I throughly enjoyed my food here. Was a perfect place to have lunch and enjoyed the views overlooking the bridge. Also you can’t beat eating by running water. I would say it was one of my favourite places in Thailand to eat and enjoy the views.

On the advice of several blogs, we decided to have dinner in this place which presents itself as a suggestive place where you can enjoy a typical Thai dinner on the river that crosses Kanchanaburi on a platform near the Death Railway Bridge.
We ordered the recommended dishes to taste the best specialties. All dishes were very good. The only hitch was the main course with noodles: very spicy for our tastes.
Very attentive and accurate service.
The two of us spent around 35 euros on dishes.

Food correct and quite good but menu not updated and above all impossible to communicate with the waitresses who do not speak a word of English.
The dishes (starters and main courses) were brought at the same time…
Zero service. It's a shame
Good point about the welcome and the friendly staff.

This was a great restaurant. Been to Kanchanaburi for years and never had a good meal until I visited this place.
Place is huge and always crowded with Thai families for a good reason. Food is traditionally Thai and excellent!
One of the best restaurants I've visited in 2020 and certainly the best place in Kanchanaburi

Excellent food and the most beautiful views.
We were very pleasantly surprised when we found this little gem. It's right on the river with the most gorgeous views of River Kwai, The service was great and the food was fantastic.... We came back again.
Price on the slightly higher side but it's worth it for the view and beautiful restaurant

Beautiful place along the River Kwai (from some angles you can even see the bridge) There are several levels with sitting possibilities. The food is good, prices are medium and de service is okay. They speak a bit English and are polite. Atmosphere is a bit dull, a pitty.
Overall a nice experience but not for every day.

A pleasant restaurant with decent food and good service - and a wonderful view over the river to the bridge on the River Kwai. My chicken satay was tasty and original. A little difficult for disabled or elderly people especially if you want to go down to the riverside decking area but apart from that, fine. This is a fairly upmarket restaurant.
