The DAR is truly a great spot for having traditional Thai food in Hua Hin. We, a family of five with small children, visited several restaurants in Hua Hin and liked the DAR best. If you are looking for delicious, traditional Thai food in a typical location and are willing to pay approximately 25% more than in most other local restaurants, this is the place to go for you.

Very tasty freshly cooked Thai food

We have both been lucky enough to have visited Thailand numerous times and we always try to seek out good places to eat Thai food. Dar is definitely one of the best we have found, and we had dinner there on four of the nine nights we stayed in Hua Hin. The quality of the meats and size of the portions are two key reasons why we liked Dar so much, but the main reason was the taste of the food. We did try another well rated Thai restaurant for comparison but the food there was relatively bland. The food is cooked to order and you can specify the amount of chilli used. I do like spicy food and found the 55% pretty hot and opted for most dishes to be 35%. They also serve Australian wine that is both drinkable and, for Thailand, reasonably priced. The service is very friendly and Dar, the lady who does most of the cooking often makes a point of coming out of the kitchen to get feedback directly from her customers. The restaurant is just across the main road from the Marriott Resort.

Delicious fresh Thai food cooked by the beautiful Salina and served by the happy friendly Rocky and staff. Great choice wonderful seafood 🦞 great size portions and the house wine 🍷 is actually drinkable and served ice cold at a reasonable price. Great value for money and a superb husband and wife team Go you will not be disappointed Tell them Lorna sent you ! X We have been four time’s and taken different friends who all loved it too. So going back again for our last night of holiday as so good x

This restaurant has the best seafood in Hua hin at very affordable prices. I have been going many times for dinner over the years and its always good. They have an extensive menu with several cooking styles for each dish. Definitely a place to try if you like seafood. It always very busy so you might have to wait

Excellent service with a good choice of food. Restaurant is so small the lady serving can just call over to the chef to check a dish, change an ingredient etc. Freshly cooked & very tasty. We would go back.

Best home cooked food of love in hua hin

As always, this home style cooking made by a true family run restaurant is my favorite part of visiting hua hin. Chef Selina will tell you everything that is fresh and best for the night- soft shell crabs last night. It’s always the best food, worth the wait as she carefully makes every dish with love, I can’t wait to have again.

Great chicken in coconut soup

Located just across the road from the Marriott and next to the night market, you feel like you are taking your life in your hands sometimes trying to cross the very busy road. You can walk up the road about 500 meters to a bridge or wait for the gap in traffic. Food is very good, I enjoyed the chicken in coconut soup, my wife the pineapple fried rice (served in a whole pineapple). Decent prices and great service.

Do not be put off by the location of this restaurant, by a busy road, this is one you don't want to miss. The owners are husband and wife, with the husband front of house and the wife in full and open view in her kitchen. I say this as she is usually cooking in an evening dress while wearing a white chefs hat. And boy can she cook. Service was slowish, but not too bad. We recommend the Soft Shell Crab and the Chicken with Cashew nuts. The fresh pineapple and ice cream desert is delicious and one will easily feed two. How good was it, we went twicw.

These good reviews must surely be about a different restaurant. This is a trap. We became hostages to the extremely slow and rude service. By the time we noticed our wait is exceeding 90 minutes (for simple curries), it was too late to go anywhere else. We would have just left and gone, otherwise. Food was extremely average and the price is more than some other nearby. The service is awful and the owner is really rude. the first night he just sent us away, saying there were too many people. Compared to many restaurants around, there weren't. the second night he let us stay. we ordered at 7.30 and got our food 9.15 p.m.! When we told him, he didn't even apologise. It's absolutely pathetic. Everyone was bored and walking around waiting for their food. The owner uses his son to serve food, a little boy that jumps around with people's meals on plates. This is so unprofessional. Nobody wears a mask and a filthy cloth cleaned our table when we arrived. Sorry but there are many better places around. Don't waste your evening and just drive or walk passed this.

New location - same great Thai food from charming Chef Salina

Together with her husband Chef Salina presents in her newly opened DAR Restaurant (!NEW LOCATION) a wonderful Thai Food experience. Chef Salina knows how to create those great classics, nice Seafood and Fish dishes and also a wonderful Banana Desert! The seasoning is so balanced and advanced - a great experience. Will be back soon! A must in Hua Hin. New Location: Opposite Cicada Market on the Main Road, just look for the smile of Salina on her big sign outside the Restaurant.

One year on we are back with a vengeance. Have eaten here 3 times this week all great food experiences with the standout dish soft shell crab. Snapper very good however it's cooked so fresh. Only criticism need a bit more variety in the fish department. Still great staff and service

We were delighted to discover that DAR restaurant had merely moved location as opposed having closed completely following the pandemic. We last enjoyed a meal at this restaurant in 2018 and during the two weeks we spent in Hua Hin in 2023 we returned four times and each meal was superb. Fresh seafood, lobster, soft shell crabs, tiger prawns and sea bass prepared by Salina with her inimitable passion and desire to provide the best quality and unique taste for each part of your meal and delivered by Rocky in his own charming and charismatic way. This restaurant is unique, underpinned by the talents of Rocky and Salina who work exceptionally hard to provide an alternative to the dearth of restaurants available in Hua Hin. Salina takes pride in ensuring that her customers are completely satisfied and as you will see has overall responsibility for each meal prepared by her from scratch. She creates the menu, exploring tastes and textures so this will not be representative of the mainstream restaurants and if that is what your preference is then maybe the individual nature of this restaurant may not be for you. Personally, I enjoyed the atmosphere, the music, the engagement of not only Salina with customers but Rocky who compliments his wife as front of house ensuring service is provided with a smile, laugh, consideration and style (in additional to delicious cocktails).

DAR - Delicious Hua Hin Gem!

We have been coming to DAR's for the past couple of months. The food is consistently tasty and cooked perfectly whether it's seafood or meat. The service is friendly and will treat you like family. We've had soft shell crab, sea bass with pepper sauce, grilled steak, stir fried kale, penang chicken, etc. Every time, no disappointment! Cheers to DAR!

Simply the best.

I have known Salina and Rocky many years with coming to Hua Hin they were first in Hua Hin town Center by Grand Market then Covid came and shut them down along with nearly every other business here when I came back I found them again up near Cicada Market I visit them once a week as I now live in Hua Hin and I never have any complaints at all about their restaurant. They are a hard working family and Salina is a self taught chef with recipes passed down through her family she does everything fresh from scratch and she will always come out and ask how your food was and how could she do it better if need be. I know people have a right to their reviews that’s what makes things better but rather than making derogatory and rude comments on these reviews wouldn’t it be best to voice your opinion to the person’s themselves rather than hide behind a picture on your comments. Rocky Salinas husband is a hard working self taught barman who has worked many bars and has received many appraisals in his job, I have been in the restaurant when a customer came up with lots of lies about how long he had waited for a meal and it was total lies because they came after me but Rocky handled it well I feel sorry for them by the way some Farang think they can treat them disgustingly. I will always recommend Dar restaurant to anyone but remember if it’s busy you may have to wait as the the food doesn’t come out of a fridge/freezer ready made it is prepared with love and if it’s your first time as a customer hopefully it won’t be long before you return as a friend of theirs.

Wonderful meal

Visited last night after reading the reviews and couldn't be happier. The owner and chef took time talking to us and we're both very friendly. The chef recommended her prawn curry (makes all her own sauces) and it was delicious. All the food was delightful and we had such a lovely evening. Really hope the tourism returns soon this restaurant deserves to do very well. Will be visiting again before we go home. Highly recommended
