One can easily have all meals for over a month at sparrow cafe. Coz its like eating healthy hygienic meal at your own home. In vegetarian meals you actually get many more choices of local veggies than paneer & mushroom. we had vegetable made of...jackfruit. They also have good choices of continental dishes . It takes time to cook fresh and hygienic meals. hence don't expect it to be quick like a fast food joint. To avoid waiting , one can pre order meals. I would strongly recommend it as Afternoon Stopover to refresh before you move on for another sightseeing or for relax Dinner after exploring Assi Ghat. There is something very soothing about the interiors of sparrow café which makes you relax & lull. My kids napped there for nearly an hour and none of the café folks were in rush to push us off. You can buy local handicrafts /jewelry at the comfort of café while having your meals. Many artisans are well connected with the café. Its owned by impressive entrepreneur Sakchhi and well supported by her business partner Kuldeep. Both of them are very humble, genuine and extremely professional. Coz of both of them we could have memorable and hassle free trip to varanasi . only one thing I wish they could improve is bathroom/restroom which is outside. Its clean for sure but needs to be more nicer like the rest of the café. There is lot that can be written about Sparrow Cafe. In nutshell it suitable for all age groups and stages of life. When you get in touch with Sakchhi and Kuldeep , all your travel ,food, sightseeing, shopping worries come to an end.More

Lovely cafe run by a brilliant owner with an amazing story. Visited with my family in the rainy season and this cafe bought a ray of sunshine into our day.

This cafe was such a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of the streets. Food was well prepared and I love the empowerment they give to local women. Definitely worth a visit!

I ate here after a day of trekking around Varanasi and it was such a welcome retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Varanasi. They advised me that they only employ local women to give them jobs. Service was slow but then so is...everywhere. The dahl we had was lovely and the ginger and lemon tea was the best I had on my trip.More

We went at Sparrow Cafe for a cooking class. The team was welcoming and the place is lovely and relatively protected from the noise of the streets. We asked for recipes that were not too complex so as to be able to cook similar dishes...at home. So indeed the dishes were not too complex and simply delicious, but we were a bit disappointed for 2 reasons: first we were explained it'd be a 5-dishes menu, so we expected 5 actual dishes but each element of the plate counts for 1 dish so you can expect 1 drink, 1 plate and 1 dessert. That's fine for us but shouldn't be introduced as 5 dishes menu. Second, even when the woman offered us to cook ourselves, it was only to turn the spoon in the cookpot (and even then sometimes she'd take the spoon from our hands). So you can rather expect seeing Indian dishes being cooked rather than cooking yourself. For these reasons we find the experience too expensive. But of course everything was good and team was lovely, actually it depends on what you expect from a cooking class. Enjoy!More

A wonderful space to get away from the hustle bustle of busy Varanasi. Super tasty food, refreshing drink and snacks. Staff is friendly, especially the owner Sakchi ji, who is both helpful and informative about city. Will happily keep returning. Thank you.

This place is so pure with food. Ladies from the cafe are humble and welcome. They give customized food options too. If you are in Varanasi must go to this place. The cafe is cultural cafe also.

We were staying near this cafe and decided to pop in for lunch. Enjoyed the omelette and pancakes. The staff are fairly attentive. Food took a while but understand it is all cooked fresh. The drinks are also very good. We enjoyed coffees and also...a milkshake and the cold non-alcoholic mojito! The cafe also sells locally-made magnets and postcards etc.More
