Good Food. Went for Breakfast and had Idli, Vada and Dosa . The chutni’s served with Idli are very tasty and something which is hard to find elsewhere.
Only issue we faced was the speed of service, especially for us . Not sure if being from north India has a role to play in that , but we asked for chutni multiple times but it was not served again. We had to ask for coffee almost 3 times and then we got up and went for self service , only then the waiter gave us our coffee.
By the way , all this time all others around were served pretty much with good speed and we observed some who joined us later were served even before us. Must be local regulars, who knows.

First of the staff was really sweet and explained everything on the menu and even cut up a dosa for us to share so we could have a bit of everything.
Also a nice place to escape the heat for a bit, AC was just right.
Really tasty food. Tried the masala dosa, idli and vada. Served with 4 different chutneys and sambar on a banana leaf.
Also had the sweet pongal.
Overall really tasty though the pongal was a bit heavy on the jaggery for my tasting.

Bustling restaurant with good prices and excellent service. Be prepared to eat on a plantain leaf that adds to the charm. There is also is protocol in folding the leaf after you eat. Super dosas, vada, oothappam etc. It is laso opposite the well known Pothy's Sari shop.

Food is not hot or can't find anything special in taste. Worst service and over priced. They put some powder and charge 40 rs for one Idili.. Idili podi which is served in other hotels for free..
Please try with others hotels in that area..

At first, we didn’t want to go there as we went to Murugan Idly at Vellore and Krishnagiri multiple times. We went there as they had parking space. I would say it is a good decision. Food is tasty compared to their other outlets and far cheaper as well.

This place is famous. So we wanted to eat here at any cost. After half an hour waiting, got seats on the terrace. We had ghee podi idlis and dosas. The food is good, no doubt but you can get this elsewhere too. Hundreds of restaurants are there in TN who will serve you similar food.

The best idli and podi variety hands down in all of TN
Specially divine are the Podi idli and ghee roast onion podi uttapam.
The ambience is below average and quite filthy honestly. The setaing arrangements are cramped and littered. Hygiene is a clear victim but I suffer that for the love of south indian fare they dish out

Popped in here on a magazine review. Shared a table by a father and his daughter, who did not speak during the complete meal.
We had a simple masala dosa with uttapam, and an idli on a banana leaf plate. Water was the refreshment, with several sweets for after.
Great speedy, clean and low budget.
It hit the spot.

I visited this place Murgan Idli Shop for my lunch when I was in Madurai. The place was very crowded as it was Sunday but I was able to get a seat. I had Paneer Dosai, Ghee Podi Idli and finished with Madurai special Jigarthanda. The idlis were soaked very well in ghee and were very soft. Podi Masala and chutneys enhanced the taste. I really liked the Dosai and power packed flavors of paneer in it. Jigarthanda is a must try when in Madurai. I don't think you will get drink like this anywhere else.
Cost - 300 bucks for all the items

We went for a quick snack late in the afternoon before the temple visit.
Ordered the idli.
It was (served on banana leaf )warm and fluffy (4)
Surrounded by a variety of chutneys and podi with oil.
The Sambar was poured on top.
Each chutney had a unique flavour.
We washed it down with an interesting drink called Jigarthanda- milkshake with fine jelly particles with a dollop of ice cream. It was so refreshing.
Must do if you are in the temple area.

Best place to visit for authentic morning breakfast. The idlies are fluffy with varieties of Chutney; the small onion sambar is amazing with sweet tangy taste. Their sweet Pongal & ven Pongal is ultimate. The crispy Dosa is superb & added the coffee ends up with the lingering warm taste.

This is a small restaurant without any bells and whistles but it punches above its weight when it comes to its food. The dosai and idlis were heavenly. The different types of chutneys, posi and sambar were amazing and the taste was great.

Well, if you're in Murugan Idli, you're there for the authentic experience. As a person not from South or from Tamil Nadu, this was a sought out visit after almost 14 years prior visit at Chennai branch.
First things first, there is no change in freshness and great tasting food. The rush ensures the food does not stay on shelves for long. And they've perfected the taste, which is reflected in 32 years since it's opening.
Now, can they have done better? Naah, you don't want that, else the charm will be lost. There are those high end places giving banana leaf plated dosas (and idlis), with bowled sambhar and spoons. One does not go to Murugan Idli for that.
