A local vegetarian legend - don’t miss it!

Natraj occupies the second and third floor of a very nondescript building close to the railway station (there is a second Natraj outlet elsewhere in Udaipur). The dining hall is on the second floor and this was where we visited. Locals love this place and it is always buzzing. No Europeans were visible on our visit which was an added bonus. Waiters with purple jackets and hair nets swarm about the place, seating you wherever there is space. Food service is novel. A large circular stainless steel tray is presented. Some sauces, chapatti and some rice are deposited on the tray. Seven small stainless steel bowls are arranged round this. Waiters with pots then constantly appear to fill the pots with all manner of delicious local (“Thali”)food. Given the chance they will simply keep topping up your tray or your bowls until you can scarcely walk. All together a very happy way to partake of lunch and a local highlight not to be missed: remarkably the cost per head is only 240 rupees or £3 at current exchange rates.

How you can get best out of NATRAJ- Read It!

If you are a food lover, enjoy different cuisine then visit this place to relish yourself with Rajasthani and Gujrati cuisine. Let me share the trick with you, they have endless varieties of food and most of the people are not able to cover even the 14th. Since I do a lot of food walks and this is how I cover most of the varieties : 1. Take everything for taste purpose, they will try to fill your bowl, politely say " a little quantity " please. 2. Items which already had in the past, park them for later. 3. Once you are done tasting all the available varieties, now ask for the item you like the most. 4. Buttermilk should be your drinking water and not before completing your meals. 5. Salad is a filler, keep it for some other day. One important point, they also have an ala carte menu, which is expensive. So, prefer thali over fine dining So, if you find the above advice useful, do not miss to hit the "Helpful" button at the end of the review. Have a great time.

A great experience

A friend recommended this place and we came, ate and LOVED it all! The buzz of the waiters coming along filling our plates with delicious food that was fresh and exciting. It was the first time my daughters eaten Thali and despite normally being fussy the ate or tried each and every dish, loved it and asked for more. A huge success!

Amazing food!

I read loved the concept of dividing restraunt and thali section. They waste no time serving you and the burden of overlooking a large menu is spared. Food was awesome, large number of items. If you want to have Rajasthani food at a reasonable price I would recommend Natraj. There is one more restraunt which serves only Rajasthani thali but the cost per person is too much.

5 star Indian you’ve got to try it!

One of the best curries we’ve ever had! We got the veggie dansak & channa masala full of flavour and not greasy like a lot of Indians. Peshwari naan and the dips were a taste sensation… Great service all round especially our waitress Balwinder serving extra cold cobra beer and extra large gins at no extra charge. Real holiday feel about the place sat outside in the square would highly recommend :) 10/10

Good restaurant for Dal-Bati!!!

We ordered the traditional Rajasthani dish- Dal Bati and we are pleased we did. It comes with two batis, one bowl of Dal, Churma and a few condiments. One plate is enough for one adult and a child or two adults. The quality and quantity of the the food was superb and the service is also appreciable. Due to renovation ambience may be harmed but the the food makes up for it. Overall perfect place for midday meals and dinners.

Huge spread of tasty vegetarian dishes

Awesome vegetarian thali at a very reasonable price. We skipped lunch while travelling to Udaipur so turned up at 6:30pm really hungry. The first floor is labelled Thali and we made a beeline there. We found a lot of empty tables (early for dinner here) with empty thali plates/bowls and settled down at one of them. Within a few minutes they started bringing out food to fill the bowls in the thali. The staff serving were very warm and welcoming and patiently offered/served all the items. Here’s the items I noted down so I don’t forget Dhokla Salad Bhendi curry Halwa Paneer curry Aloo curry Black Chana curry Dal tadka Kadi Paneer chilla Phulka Besan chilla Chaaj (buttermilk) Khuchdi The portions are generous and they seem more than happy to serve enough to fill you up and more. Even my son who wasn’t happy about eating Indian food was very happy. We all had our favourite dish.

Stomach Full Of Rajasthani Thali

If you are feeling hungry and craving Indian food this is the go-to place. They serve authentic Rajasthani and Gujarati thali at base price. if you are a group of friends and want to grab a quick lunch visit them as the food is fresh and tasty. The place gives you a view of 90's restaurants but super clean and well managed.

Best Thali and Restorent

In Udaipur Natraj name is enough for food or thali, in other days you can get table easily but weekend it is tough because these 2 days very much rush. The owner is very nice person,he personally ask me what I need in food and when I paying that time also he ask me about my city and want to know my opinion about food and service.The owner come from shrimali brahmin cast so he told me that in jodhpur chand pole and navchoukiya main place where shrimali brahmin people live. I went there 3 times and I test all kind of food like dal baati,gujrati thali and punjabi thali .All are very tasty and I want to go there again n again. If you ask any auto driver for thali they all are suggest you for Natraj.

Excellent service - mediocre Thali

The service was excellent, but I found the Thali just average - and not worth the cost of an 'authentic' eating experience in Udaipur. I would suggest the kitchen upgrades the variety and flavours of the mini-dishes it is providing. With due respect, I wouldn't go back there for another thali.

Must have Thali

This is one of those restaurants that is present in almost every Indian city, especially in central and North India, which is famous for serving a full meal thali with local flavours. Natraj is definitely a must visit place for thali lovers. The variety and preparations are delicious, served with a lot of manaawar (insistence by the host) as they call it in Rajasthan. Fairly reasonably priced. The place is always overflowing with patrons, mostly tourists. The location of the restaurant makes it a favourite amongst tourists, apart from the quality of what they serve.

Entire Rajasthan in ONE Thali

This is the place I love to have my lunch whenever I'm in Udaipur. The Thali contents are Good, richly prepared and quite authentic. There's only one issue however, after having this thali for Lunch one becomes quite bloaty for the rest of the evening. I really wonder what Ghee or Oil they must be using in their cuisines.

Delicious Food / Thali !!

It’s a 3 floor building .. the best is 1st floor ,, as on 1st floor they serve Thali which is the worth spending dish @300.00 . They have a good varieties and the food is quite tasty . The staff is also welcoming and they smilingly serve food which enhances the delicacy !!

Excellent Indian Thali

If you are looking for tasty Indian food in Thali then this is the perfect restaurant. This is near the railway station. They serve Indian cuisine on one floor. There is variety of food and food is really tasty. They insist not to waste food so please take which you can eat only. Good thing is owner himself communicate with customers about food and their requirements, which shows excellent hospitality

I was just impressed by the serving speed at Natraj. The staff was so hospitable and alert. Each and every sabzi that was served had flavors. I completely enjoyed this experience. If you are in udaipur then it's a must to visit. I also ordered Ker Sangri and Gatta curry which was just finger licking.
