Highly recommended for stunning location, superb ambience, efficient service and delicious food. The managers where very accommodative alloting a table even though we had no prior reservation. Although known for its non vegetarian food the vegetarian food was very delicious. Would highly recommend to all

We have been to this place when were in udaipur as we heard a lot from people. Food was good we loved it. Service was little slow. Drinks took 15-20 mins to come on the table when they were expecting us to leave the table in one and half hour.
management needs to go for customer service training and learn to accommodate guests basic request.

My wife and I visited Udaipur for our 25th anniversary, and for our celebration dinner, we chose Upre after reading the reviews.
And what an amazing choice it turned out to be! We sat overlooking the lake and palaces, the lights playing off the still water, the live instrumental music setting the perfect mood. The service was friendly and courteous, the recommendations of cocktails and dinner just perfect - it was a meal fit for an extra-special occasion.
The icing on the cake was the personal touch, courtesy of the GM, Mr Yudhisthir Singh. He made sure that we received royal treatment, himself spending time with us and keeping us entertained. I couldn't help but notice that he found the time to stop at every table and check how the diners were doing - haven't seen this at many good restaurants in India, and we've dined at a few.
All in all, an unforgettable experience.

I ordered a paneer chilli, they served me with chicken chilli, confidentially when i asked them twice before they served on my plate. I am a pure vegetarian. The food arrived on my table after 1.5 hours. The food was absolutely cold and the staff doesn’t even treat you properly. There are absolutely 0 lights near the tables, you cant even if a mosquito has fallen in your plate. Disgusted with the food and place. Never going there again and never suggesting it to anyone.

As far as the best place I've been to in Udaipur in terms of view but, the hospitality by the staff was of such poor quality. I went there to have lunch and there was no rush whatsoever! The staff on the ground floor courteously showed us our way to rooftop but the catering staff was not at all happy to serve as I don't know why. They didn't
even listen to us when we were calling them and were busy with a couple who looked kind of "royal", 3 waiters were around them & a manager too. So this is how they're gonna treat normal people when we pay them equally as the other couple would be paying. NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOU'RE VVIP
Secondly, they took nearly 45 minutes to make a vegetable sabji. The food we were expecting was not even 2% of what it looked like. None of the waiters served as well as even asked us. We had to take the food and serve us by ourselves, and had to ask them if they can serve?

Only for the scenic beauty of the place, I have rated it one star!!
Absolutely terrible choice and the food is pathetic. The staff were so unwelcoming and did their job as if doing guests a favour.
The general service was so poor that I had to ask for plate to eat and the service staff ignores your request!!
The food is arguably the worst food I've eaten in Udaipur (Trust me, I've had six meals in Udaipur before this and upre's food was horrible to say the least)
Rs 8,154 spent on a horrible meal experience(tatti experience)!!
Please stay away from this place or go there click a pic and go to some other place!!!

I wouldn't come here for Italian, Chinese, or any of the other food that other reviews have mentioned. Why would you come to India and try to order Italian food? Skipping that topic, the food, service, price, and location are exceptional. I've been living in Udaipur for about 7 months and this is definitely once of my favourite restaurants/hotels. Now, some people will say it's expensive, and by Indian standards it is, but the most expensive dish on the menu is about 600INR, which is really inexpensive by Western standards, especially considering the ambience. I recommend a balance of modest places and places like Upre to get the full spectrum of Udaipur - the spectrum is broad, and lovely. Bon courage!

Amazing!!! My partner and I went twice during our stay in udaipur and both experiences were amazing. Great service, great drinks and amazing food. The prices are higher than other restaurants in India but for the fine dining experience and food it’s so worth it. The stuffed mushrooms are delicious. Highly recommend

Upre is a fine dining restaurant on the rooftop of hotel lake pichola. The access to the place is thru narrow lanes and gives one a feel of old Udaipur. While I was one my visit sewerage work was going on and the narrow lanes were a little messed up. Hotel lake Pichola is an old haveli converted in to a hotel situated on the banks of lake pichola. This property is diagonally opposite Taj Fateh Prakash and has breath taking view. This restaurant Upre which literally means on the rooftop is a must visit place for a meal when in Udaipur. Make sure you make a prior booking for a lake view table since the property is highly sort after by travellers. Best time is sundowner followed by dinner. I had mixed experience with the hospitality where the 1st steward was very rude to talk to so we asked for a change and had the best that was there.( Can't recollect the name of the guy who served us nxt but apparently worked with the restaurant for 19 years) . Lal mass and dungar mass is a must try. The restaurant also has heaters to keep you warm when the weather gets cold. We did check out the rooms which were very average. But nothing beats the location.

You have to prebook the table at Upre. The lobby of the hotel is amazing and the view from the restaurant is amazing. There are also cabanas available. Service is slow, you have to take a couple of hours out to be here. One dish wasn’t up to the mark with the chicken being overcooked and dry. The view is better during dinner. 😉

First off, this restaurant is run very differently. We were told that we have to make a reservation and there are only 2 slots per night, so you need to reach by that slot.
Secondly, the restaurant is open air, with insects. That may or may not work for you. It didn't work for us.
Third, the service is rather slow and there was no one waiting on us, so we had to try and get someone's attention when we needed anything.
Fourth, the food is really great, but its not the best food you will ever have, and its not the best service you will ever get.
In short, I wouldn't make a reservation at this place again.
The restaurant was recommended by our hotel when we asked them the best place to dine at.
We ate at another restaurant closeby (cant remember the name) where the view and food were similar, but the service was much better.

This was my third visit to this restaurant but the service n food quality/taste keeps deteriorating on every visit. I waited 40 min for my food which tasted bland, the bill took 10 min to arrive……understaffed and unprofessional. No more the original upre experience…. it’s very overhyped…..not worth a visit at all!!!

We went to Upre to get dinner in the evening, just a day before the New Year’s. It was a master class in hospitality. The best hospitality experience of our lives. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a memorable experience.
As for the food, we would definitely recommend getting the butter chicken with the dal makhani. And the views are mesmerising. While it does get a little chilly in the evening, there are heaters to keep you warm.
A must visit in Udaipur.

One of the best place we visited in Udaipur. How good the food and service was, you can understand with our small experience.
We explore the day in Udaipur and had lot of street foods. We were all full with the stomach. We just went to Upre just to see the view and enjoy the ambience. Luckily my wife ordered Rajasthani dish Gatte ki sabji and I ordered Mutton Biryani. Even we are not hungry, still it tastes so so amazing that we could not resist to come next day again.
The food by Shanker Menaria (Pandit ji) was so so amazing that we can describe in words. The food service by Keshu Patel ji was mind blowing. Due to their food service, I am writing this review.
If you guys are visiting Udaipur, you must go to Umre restaurant and ask for food by Shanker Menaria (Pandit ji) and look for Keshu Patel ji. You guys thank me later for this advice.
The Laal maans was very authentic here and well balanced. My wife tried veg options with Panneer and Daal and she said this was best outside food she had in her whole life.
Thank you Pandit ji and Patel ji for giving us such a great experience. We will definitely come again here. We are in love with Udaipur as well your food and service. Thanks!!

Lured in by the glamorous entrance which gets better and better all of the way to your table which overlooks the Pichola lake and Gangaur Ghat where we saw what looked like a swimming club doing laps at sunset.
It is ideal for a romantic meal in this charming setting and delicious menu. We had a mix of Indian curry (non veg) and Mexican (burritos) which were tasty without the grease.
Beers, milkshakes, tea/coffee available as well as a stocked bar.
