Homemade pasta with a view

We visited Savage Garden after reading the Trip Advisor reviews and we were certainly not disappointed. Not easy to find unless you know it is directly above Edelweiss cafe. There are a lot of steps up to the top terrace so would not suit everyone, but the food and particularly the homemade pasta certainly suited us. Starter, main course pasta and a glass of wine each at £11 each was excellent value, and what a view!

Relocated to new place but same menu with nice Italian options

Savage Garden was use to be my favorite place long back housed in blue house but now they have moved to New location. They are keeping the same menu as designed originally by German owner. Roof top has nice views and ample seating places. Food quality is not same as earlier where there is scope of improvement. Unique menu and would recommend it. i ordered Aubergine tomatoes with cinnamon rice and Spinach mushroom ravioli, best part is that it is freshly prepared. Desserts are nice and their bakery is good too.

Great food, great service, lovely terrace!

As much as we love Indian food, this place was a welcome change serving fresh homemade pasta which was delicious! The lovely roof terrace with views of the lake and city made it a great place to sit for dinner. Very relaxed vibe and great service. The owner went out of his way to ensure we were warm enough with open fire pit heaters. Also great that they serve wine and beer since many places don’t. We loved it here and would highly recommend!

A lovely experience

We experienced the warmest of welcomes at this little restaurant perched on a terrace above the Eidelweiss cafe. The food, vegetarian and non-veg, was absolutely delicious and the view over Lake Pichola made for a perfect evening. Excellent value too.

Beautiful Experience

What a lovely way to end our last night in Udaipur. Service was excellent and personable and the pasta we had was fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious. A lovely and special experience. Please go there, highly recommend! :)

A delight

This was a highlight of our trip in India! Their speciality chicken dish (Chicken Wajid Ali) was one of the best I ever tasted (not just in India). The sauce was amazing. Gokal is a very passionate waiter who clearly does his job with love. And it shows. We felt welcomed and cared for. Never hassled but cared for. He changed our table to one with a view as soon as one was available, without us asking. He brought a fire brazzer to make sure we ere comfortable, again without us asking. He offered to take a photo of us before eating. And finally we were also given a complimentary dessert, which was very nice of them. My only regret is not knowing about this place earlier!!

Lovely staff & great pasta matched by a fabulous view

We arrived in the middle of a monsoon thunder storm….despite the weather causing havoc we were welcomed, seated and served drinks (including beer when requested). We ordered pasta dishes all round and were not disappointed. Portions are a good size - not huge but enough for adults - the pasta is fresh and the sauces very tasty. Typical cost was around 250-300 per dish. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing family meal at a friendly restaurant with great views.

Wierd business ethics.

so I went there in the morning and had a lemon ginger honey,my friend came to see me and we set there hardly half hour. Where I was supposed to pay 70₹ for the drink the guy asked me to pay 30₹ extra. I asked why he said “aapne or kuch liya nahi esliye” So I gave him 100₹ gently. It’s not about the money but about the ethics you show towards your guest. Where as I was cleared already to pay him tip,but after that,no thank you.

Great pasta

After 2 weeks of wonderful Indian food our party of 6 felt in need of a change and Savage Garden was just the place. The homemade pasta dishes were all wonderful and we had a great evening enjoying the food and stunning views. The service was really friendly and attentive.

Incredible food, outstanding service

We arrived in Udaipur after a really long 17 hour train journey so we were really tired! We found Savage garden as soon as we arrived and were so happy to receive a really warm welcome from the lovely staff. They were so helpful, friendly and the place is stunning with incredible rooftop views. The food is great - authentic Italian food all made fresh including the pasta :). Highly recommend :)

Chicken Wajid Delhi Absolutely Delicious

The staff were amazing, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The owner recommended the Chicken Wajid Ali as it is the house specialty and we couldn’t believe how good it was my wife even asked for the recipe and they offered to email it to her so we can try this at home. Would definitely recommend this for anyone to try as well as fantastic food you also get the bonus of the view of Lake Pichola.

Friendly, honest and memorable

The friendly host dearly expressed his gratitude for coming to his restaurant. We picked the roof terrace with excellent view on the beautifully lit lake to have diner. Although, one floor down also looked very cozy. Maybe it's because there's so many plants. The host showed us the freshly made pasta in the kitchen during daytime and when we arrived in the evening I asked him about how he made certain ingredients. He offered me to taste the pesto before ordering a dish with it as main ingredient. All in all very pleasant evening with good food and a appreciative host.

Don’t miss this!

Popped in for a lemon soda and to look at the view. Stayed for snacks (paneer pakora a definite winner) and then came back for dinner! The staff are friendly, interesting and interested. Proud of their restaurant and food. The handmade pasta could proudly be served in Italy, spinach and mushroom ravioli was delicious. The chef happy to show his kitchen. Come for dinner and you also get a Great Lake view. It is worth climbing all the stairs!

Romantic dining experience with rooftop views

We were attracted to Savage Garden because of the photos of Judy Dench and others stars of 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' in the window of the neighbouring tailor shop (whose owner, Rakesh, also runs Savage Garden restaurant). It seems Judy and the cast of the movie regularly hung out here. We could see why. The rooftop location of the restaurant gives stunning views of the lake-ringed mountains. It is in the centre of the old town, yet it is also remarkably peaceful. And then there was the food: everything was really fresh and tasty, and as spicy or un-spicy as you asked for. Very prompt and friendly service - we got the feeling that the owner and staff genuinely did care about getting everything just right. We came back for lunch the next day and would have come again and again, but alas we had flights to catch.

Very nice pasta!

Walk up several flights of stairs (work up an appetite!) to this rooftop restaurant where we enjoyed a dinner with nice views. Friendly service - if you book in advance you can let them know what you’d like to drink (eg beer, wine) so they can stock it for you. We both enjoyed a homemade pasta dish each (tasty, big portions), and were surprised by the waiter who gave us a free slice of beautiful apple cake each for dessert. Really good!
