We came here from a recommendation, to try out authentic Maharashtran cuisine. We had the thali which let us taste most of the stuff in little portions. They had Kokam juice, which is apparently only found in the Maharashtran area. It was a good experience,...but I feel like this isn't for everyone, a very acquired taste is what you need. But if you're in the mood for exploring, it's worth a visit. Also the area has a lot of Mandirs, which are worth exploring too.More
This is one good and simple hotel which can be safely recommended to have some snacks and maharastrian fast food. the hotel is clean and hygienic they primarity serve misal pav, soul curry, sabudana wada, wada sambar and other sort of fast food items, decently...priced, decent crowd and recommended for quick bite.More
This clean and efficient place with many pearls of wisdom(sayings)hung on its walls has amazing sabudana khichdis and vadas. The location right next to the dinkar kelkar museum is very convenient.
In summer kokum sarbat is simply super
Authentic maharashtrian fare .
just next to famous Raja Dinkar kelkar Museum is situated this tiny restaurant which is good for quick bite or even for meals.Entering into this restaurant gave me a feel of being in pune, with the famous Puneri patya( notice boards) written all over the walls...it felt funny as well as appropriate to the place!
the food is really superb and served within no time! cost is suiting your budget and staff is quick too! do visit here for solkadhi, thalipeeth, sabudana khichdi and other sumptuous Maharasthrian delicacies.More
Situated right next to Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum I landed upon the place after a quick internet search.
It's was almost 4 and we had not had lunch so we're looking for some really scrumptious Maharashtrian food. The name bapat and some reviews gave a...feeling that it kind of the the place for the moment.
Went for the dahi misal first and the dahi disappointed and the misal didn't excite either. Won't say it was bad but it just didn't get the taste buds going. Decided to shift cuisine and ordered a dosa (not the best of decisions but didn't want a tired cook to make pithle or masale bhath grumpliy).
The dosa was ok the chatni was passable (it was fresh though lacking in taste). Followed with an utappa and there is much to write about that either but that it wasn't bad.
Then went for some pav bhaji which was kind of ok due to the excessive butter again no aroma and not bad. I would give them the benefit of doubt given that Bombay pav bhaji is not everyone's forte even large restaurants fumble on that one.
All in all an ok place but If you have the time then do look around for more options.More
I have been visiting Bapat Uphar Gruh
("Bapat") since many years. It is one of the best restaurants to experience maharashtrian or marathi food.
Bapat is tucketed in the bylanes of Bajirao Road (old city area). It has basic indoor and outdoor sitting arrangement. Nothing...is fancy be it sitting or ambience.
Coming to food, I personally like everything from their "Maharashtrian food menu", pav bhaji and Maharashtrian thali. Food here is usually less on oil and spice.
Do try Bapat for some simple, less spicy food affair in the old city area.More
