I went with a group of 6 who were on an organised tour of Kerala, we didn’t know what to expect from a cookery ‘class’ but we all had a fabulous time with a lot of laughing and even more delicious food, my gluten free needs were catered for and there was plenty of food to go around which was one of the best meals we had all holiday. The whole experience of cooking in an authentic home with local (very nice) people added to the atmosphere and gave us a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable evening. We were all very happy to be given a list of ingredients and instructions to take away with us so we can cook it again. I definitely recommend this and would happily go again

Hosted by the charismatic Sheril, he has featured on many programmes including the BBC and New York Times so you’re in safe hands for his cooking class and dinner. You visit his house a few minutes outside of central Thekkady and participate in the dinner preparation. Chopping, grating, frying and parota flinging are all part of the relaxed experience, and don’t forget the ‘Mix-ing….mix-ing!’ mantra readily employed. All the food is fresh & delicious. Poppadoms, fried chips, pineapple curry, spicy chicken curry, fried fish, green beans, okra and fresh parota to soak it all up over a few beers. Such a great chance to enjoy the hospitality and knowledge of locals and help to support them. So escape the hotel enclaves, and venture out for the real taste of Kerala . Great fun. Great value. Highly recommended.

Don't hesitate, a fun night out.

I love a cookery class everywhere I go so I have a lot to compare it with. This was one of the best. Really packed with good food that we were all involved in cooking. They gave us lots of tips and tricks in how to cook good indian food and the dinner was fantastic. The Paratha were a joy to watch. Unfortunately none of us mastered this skill. Asha was a genius at it. A good solid fun evening along with my Exodus holiday buddies

Fun and informative cooking class

Afternoon cooking class where we made fish curry, pineapple curry, okra curry , green beans curry and breads. Really fun and informative, definitely learn a few tips and ended up with a delicious meal as well. I would highly recommend it for anyone no matter how experienced you are.

Keralan Cuisine Experience

An informative and entertaining evening learning how to cook a Keralan vegetable curry. Asha and Sheril, our hosts, were very patient in imparting their knowledge to us and, more importantly, they had a wonderful sense of fun which made for an enjoyable evening. The food was superb too though I don’t think I can take any credit for that!

Great evening fun in Thekkady

Fun and entertaining cooking class and dinner from Sheril and Asha. We did two cooking classes in India, one in the North and this one in the South - both good, but this a little better. Very hands on. Made 6 dishes plus Kerala parotta, vegetarians well catered for. Highly recommend this experience.

Must do cookery lesson!

We had a cookery lesson as part of a small group tour with Explore. Sheril and his wife were so much fun and we had a terrific evening. Thank you Sheril for inviting us into your home and letting us cause chaos, it was such an amazing experience.

Entertaining Cookery Class and Meal

We were a group of 14 that went for the hands on Indian cookery class and meal. It was a really fun evening with everybody getting involved in the preparation and the cooking. Not sure why they call it Bar-B-Que. Masses to eat, some vegetarian dishes but more choice for omnivores. I'm sure this could be adjusted on request.

Cooking class with Sheril

We had a very funny night with Sheril and can definitely recommend his cooking class to everyone. He is a great chef and a funny guy. His knowledge about indian dishes and spices is huge. We learned a lot and even got the recipes in the end. Thanks again! :)

A must do cookery lesson

Absolutely amazing cookery lesson. So much fun and very informative. The hosts are lovely people. We got to eat what we cooked, which tasted delicious. A must do experience.

A proper way to enjoy real family food of Kerala

Had lots of laughs and cooked up some delicious food with our very friendly and funny host who got us to help. An amazing insite into the Indian cuisine. Especially loved the pineapple curry and paratha.
