Recently visited this hotel for the second time. Delightful;, food excellent and rooms exquisite So conveniently situated and location overlooking the river wonderful Thank you again for a brilliant stay..
This restaurant is in the centre of Fort Cochin, by the water, with a pleasant grassy quadrangle garden adorned with unusual sculptures. Four of us went for lunch and the place was very busy. We were soon given a table and ordered a selection of...vegetable dishes and fresh breads. The food was very good and there was plenty of it! Although there were many waiters and waitresses, the service was a little sporadic but this was perhaps because the restaurant was full and it was the day after Christmas; we were eventually served by the manager/owner who treated us to some history of the building and the restaurant and complimentary drinks to compensate for the wait.More
The managers of this restaurant seem to have an overinflated view of this place. Yes, the ambience is really quite nice and unique, but the pricing of the food really does itself no favours. There are plenty of lovely competitors like the Rasoi, The old...Lighthouse Bristow hotel, Fusion Bay etc which do really very well on food and prices.
Besides, the mosquitoes eat you up alive at this place.More
The restaurant seemed very posh and well organized in the first place - also looking at the prices. Unfortunately both service and food quality were well below Indian standards, even the general ambiance cannot make up for that.
We were seated at the table for...almost an hour before our lassis came, they only took away the previous guests' leftover after our reminder.
The food came even later but wasn't very nicely prepared. Despite the price fresh ingredients were not used and everything tasted more like a ready to eat meal from a pouch.More
We stopped our wandering in Jew town for a drink and afternoon tea or even dinner. After observing the lack of service we stayed for soft drinks and the bill. Pity, the place is a kind of museum and is the only cafe on the...waterfront in the area.More
No doubt that the setting and and environment are superb - and if you want to visit the museum, that's great - but I wanted a great restaurant. I went along as a single female traveller. There were 4 tables occupied - not exactly packed...out. Yet it was 25 minutes from order to service. I was given half a poppadom (I kid you not) and then my dinner was one part dinner to 3 parts fillers - small fish plate plus a very small rice, 1 chappathi, one appam and a spoonful of 3 chutneys. I've never left an Indian restaurant hungry - first time for me. Portion control gone mad. For a £10 meal it was not good enough. Only one waiter managed a smile (thankyou). Shame as this could be an absolute star of a restaurant - but smacks of a clever overly-managed business. How much can you possibly save by splitting a poppadom!?*! Yes, the ginger lime soda is good. The End.More
