I am a regular visitor here for the past few years. Over the years, the service quality, food quality is slowly deteriorating, Many travelers prefer this restaurant because of TINA (There is no alternative) factor on the Mysore Bangalore highway.
During your journey, if you can spare min one hour this is the place, the breakfast is still a good option here and slightly quicker. If you are looking for authentic North Karnataka Jowar Roti meals, it is a complete disappointment for you. The North Karnataka cuisine is completely Bangalored here!!!!!. The structure or spread is the same as North Karnataka Jowar roti meals, but the taste is far from authenticity, be it Brinjal Yenegayi, Kalu Palya( Beans curry), or soppu pallya. The masala/gravy resembles Bangalore or Mysore curry, nowhere near North Karnataka Cusine, even Sambar and Rasam is far from the authenticity of North Karnataka masala.
The service standard has deteriorated like all Kamat chains of hotels. If you opt for meals, in the main building, then, please reserve more than 1 hour. The service is a bit faster in their exclusive meals section.

Legendary, Legendary, Legendary,Legendary....
No words describe the simplicity of taste, simplicity of people and oh so much peace with oh so magical food.
Coming from Bangalore, get down from new expressway before Ramnagara on old 4 lane highway. Have great food and then continue on old 4 lane highway that joins back in 5km to expressway.

Huge disappointment since our last visit a decade ago. The place has deteriorated. We had to wait for more than thirty minutes to get seating and then another fifteen minutes for the staff to clear the table and wipe it down. Staff were without masks. The menu has shrunk. The car parking was in a total mess with the attendees unable to manage parking and in some instances mismanaged the moving in and out of vehicles. Except for the Manager who was controlling the seating arrangement on a first come first serve basis, the rest of the staff seemed disinterested. Overall very poor hygiene standards were followed. Despite all these shortcomings, there were crowds waiting for meals, which goes to validate the popularity of the restaurant.

Atmosphere is ok, but its too expensive and the quality is worst, waiting time is more that a Hour, if you go for lunch time at 2.00pm you will have to wait in front of the hotel till other customer finishes his Lunch then the person or family will enter in 1 st come 1st serve bases. nearly one hour you should wait. They take nearly 1 hour to serve the meals, that too they will serve cold food and just ok ok food. while eating Monkeys come and snatch your food.
coming to billing part, each ordinary meal cost Rs. 185/- in which you get 3 side dishes all local vegetables which we basically prepare, butter milk, Corn roti 1 or 2 they put on multipul request with butter and brinjal gravy, then rice with sambar and rasam. one banana and the meal is done without a single sweet. after waiting for 2 hours.

Once upon a time this used to be our favourite place, we would drive down all the way to eat their food. Everytime we would travel to Mysore we would stop there. But yesterday i was really very disappointed. The place starts stinking the minute you enter the gate. The toilets are dirty, smelly and the stink starts from the entrance itself. Once you enter you get the cow/buffalo dung smell. The whole restaurant smells very bad. The tables look dirty. The place is very badly maintained now. The lovely thatched roof gazebos are messy and no more in use. I was highly disappointed. Unfortunately we got the last table in the open corridor. It has a bamboo blind too. There were lizards on the wall, no fans, place was too hot. The table was stinking. We had jowar roti with curries which was average. The taste is not the same. We ate quickly and left the place. Since it wasn't very clean. I wish the management does something to improve its present state.

Located about 40 Km from the City of Bengaluru on the Mysore Road, Kamat Locaruchi is one of the road side restaurants of ‘KAMAT’ chain. This place is very popular with the travellers and, frankly, we were not disappointed. Though nothing much to speak of as far as the lay out is concerned, there is ample parking, toilets, a shopping centre and most importantly decent fare available to eat at a reasonable price. Worth a pit stop.

Well I wouldn’t say this is the only good place to eat but yes good enough. We had kotte idli, masala dosa, onion uttapam and sugarcane juice. Loved the taste and quick service. They don’t serve any soft drinks so be ready to try their fresh juices.
Also the place has decent washrooms and few shops to buy while you wait for you food.

Located at a convenient distance from Bengaluru and Mysuru. Hygienic tasty south Indian / Karnataka food. What I like best here is the hospitality. The staff are so trustworthy!! Nice ambience, play ground for children, modest shopping, adjoining museum Janapada Loka - all these make a visit to this place a unique experience.
Over several years I visited this place, and I was never disappointed!!

A great place for a pit stop for some hot homely breakfast. There is always a queue at this place but that’s cause of the quality of the food. The place is neat and tidy though very basic in infrastructure but the food is what you are there for. Always good to top up ur food with some hot jalebi.

Very crowded obviously popular place, in an old buidling, hotch potch tables, waiters weaving their way in and out, noisy, a bit chaotic
pretty standard Kamat menu so you know what to expect
They do live up to the standards of other Kamat places, so yes the food is definitely very good, but this is not a place to linger and dawdle, eat and go , that is it !Zero ambience, but the location on the new Mysuru Bengaluru road is ideal, so good for a stop
The dosas were excellent, as was the coffee too

We decided to take a lunch break while driving from Mysuru to Bengaluru. To begin with car park was a mess. Then for food we had to put our name in the list and got a seat after 20 minutes. We had to wait for another 15 minutes before someone took our order after repeated requests. The food options were very limited. For Sabzi poori and curd rice, it was not worth stopping and spend one hour. Not recommended. It used to be good place a decade ago but not anymore. NAAM BAADEY AUR DARSHAN CHHOTE (BIG NAME BUT REALITY IS NOTHING).

Good food, tried neer dosa, masala dosa, idli, vada. Idli was wrapped in leaf, different style. Everything was tasty. Great stop if you are travelling this highway. Easy to reach if you are on either side of the road.

It's reputation precedes it!
Perhaps breakfast has a wider array.
Lunch was mainly meals, a weird combo of ragi mudde, idli and vada, basundi-puri, sweet or khara lassi, and lastly, sugarcane juice. Choices spelled out on a blackboard at the entrance.
Even past two the waiting for a table was about twenty minutes. But, that only made us happy we'd reached such a popular eatery!
We all chose the North Karnataka meals. They should come with a warning: Beware of Garlic!
Okay, it was in the brinjal curry, the ubiquitous yennegai. A little flavour is expected, but it was both ground as well as having large soft cloves that exploded against the teeth, without warning, to give a mouthful of pungency!
Also in the avarekai curry.
Also in the sambhar. And the rasam.
Also, uggghhh, in the kosambri of moong sprouts.
The final onslaught, the clove that put off this foodie, was found in the buttermilk! Yuck, wash out the overpowering flavour with more of the same. It's worse than getting chili pickle to temper spicy rasam!
A gentle inquiry, on leaving, elicited the information that we should have asked for the 'Jain' option. I was happy about that, until I was told about the only item on the menu that fit ... Basundi-puri! (Sugarcane juice too, let's not forget!)
For such an obliging attitude towards those who might not be garlic lovers, I for one, would not consider a repeat visit.
By the way, in case you think we were super finicky, the family at the table next to ours echoed our feelings!
