Ahdoos is legendary! The oldest place for Kashmiri Wazwan in Srinagar! The food is good not outstanding but as I understand Wazwan is best made in homes not restaurants. This is the best restaurant serving Wazwan. The rishta, gushtaba and dum aloo were good but the...Rogan Josh was not good. Nor was the walnut chutney. Very insipid. Service was great.More

Ambiance, ok.However, the place stinks. The steward was rude and told us at the outset not to order Kashmiri Mutton dishes as they are hard and chewy and made us sit at a table for 5 which had some leftover curry splattered and stains from...the previous customers. The service was quick , however, the way of serving was pathetic. The steward was literally banging the plates all over the table. The Mutton Rogan Josh was high in salt. Mutton keema was not available. The breads were ok though . The water glasses had stink as they were not cleaned properly and were still wet as if just washed under the tap. I drank directly from the Mineral Water Bottle to avoid infections. There is no parking space around the hotel . Whatever small parking is there is always full. Hunting for parking takes 30 min. The washrooms are badly maintained and worse than any washrooms I have been to so far. I wonder why people praise this place so much. The locals talk highly about this place, but I was highly disappointed.More

Overall Verdict - bad food and insensitive service. We heard high recommendations especially from our children’s friends and we decided to dedicate one meal to Ahdoo’s restaurant. We went with good expectations. The experience right from start to end was something to forget about. Entry...- was received by the doorman who informed us of a waiting time and while he was coordinating, shut us out and bolted the door from inside as if we will gate crash. Restaurant ambience and experience - the ambience looked good but we were offered a table for two, which was most unusual I have ever seen in a fine dining restaurant. It table size of 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft had two seats with seating perpendicular to each other as it had been created out of a space in the restaurant corner right at the entrance with one side blocked by entrance was and one side was against the wall. We refused the seating as we had come for an experience and not to fill our stomachs. We were offered a three seater table in adjacent room which looked more like a makeshift hall with no ambience. The picture will show that there is no harmony with the side wall and the table. It was just a table against a wall. We accepted the same. Food Order - the positive was that the rates looked reasonable for a fine dining restaurant if we compare to cities like Delhi. We ordered three dishes and four breads to be brought in two at a time. We were informed that the Kashmiri Dum Aloo was not available sos we continued with Rohan Josh and Palak. The Meal - it was the worst Rohan Josh that I had in my life and it was just some thin watery gravy which was bland and it was as if some spices have been dumped and presented. The lamb pieces were absolutely raw and tasteless. It took great amount of effort to take the meat off the bones. The palak was undercooked and we could just have a couple of spoons each. The breads came all together rather than two at a time and were cold by the time we had the first roti each. The food was served one even bothered to check if it was OK. We had the food with the watery gravy and picked onion and radish chutney. We decided to leave without ordering any desserts. Given the poor experience. The hand written bill came and we paid and left without being offered any mouth fresheners, which is a normal courtesy. At the hindsight we regret not having called the chef and made him taste atleast the Rogan Josh and made the management aware.More

We had heard a lot about this place and it lived up to its reputation. The Wazwan experience was great. I particularly liked the ribs and the kebabs So was the Rogan Josh Good as the food was , it was the staff that made...a difference . Extremely attentive , hospitable and friendly. Very very accommodating . we had heard that Wazwan cannot be shared but there was no way we could have managed 1 each so they let us share 4 between the 6 of us . Highly recommend the place Unfortunately the bakery was sold out so we couldn’t sample their cookies etc which was a pity since I’d heard a lot about themMore

There were four of us and the manager told us there is no sharing at this hotel when we tried to order biryani and Wazwan. I told him we are full and came to taste the food as we have heard about the restaurant and...was told to try the food here by locals. After going backwards and forwards the manager agreed. However, the food is very average at best. In my opinion this place can be avoided. Also, this policy about no sharing allowed I do not agree to.More

The quality of food has deteriorated since I last visited (2years ago) We ordered Biryani, Butter chicken + butter naan. Biryani cost 600 (chicken) and I promise you that your local street hotel serves better biryani. The rice was hard to chew on, dull flavours....Butter chicken tasted like tomato purée chicken. PS: THIS PLACE IS GOOD FOR HAVING WAZWAN ONLY.More

This is one of the best restaurant to enjoy veg and non-veg meals including local cuisine on the banks of river Jehlum flowing quietly.

Ask anyone already visited Srinagar and he will recommend you for this restaurant. It is in Lal Chowk area. The restaurant is a part of hotel by same name. It is in 1st floor. It is famous for wazwan, a thali type dish having most of the items...are mutton. But in Kashmir any mutton recipe at any place is not the meat of Goat as goat is rarely found there. So everybody cooks lamb’s meat as mutton. So we have chicken items both in starter and in main course and not disappointed. It is crowded anytime. On ground floor they have their own bakery and some good bakery products are there which you may carry with you.More
