This is somewhat of a hidden gem! Anything that is walking distance from my favorite Medellin hotel, the Poblado Plaza, is instantly appealing. Friends tipped me to try this restaurant and it was a find. I must say I enjoyed the finest food I have...ever tasted in the city. Elegant, a broad menu with a pricey but quality wine selection. The group ordered a wide range of steak, shrimp, lobster and fish dishes with my tuna as good as any I have ever eaten. The ginger accompanying sauce was delicious too. Dessert offered such rarities as a rhubarb pie while my wife really loved a dish described as brown bread ice cream. Late in the meal, the Chef/proprietor, Anita, took time to visit the table and she was clearly a passionate and sincere practitioner of the culinary art. All in all a memorable evening. I must comment that somehow in Colombia, decent bread is extremely hard to find. Here too, the soft, cakeish offering was disappointing. Does nobody in the city make a decent baguette or sourdough loaves?More

I had read reviews that said this was the best restaurant in Medellín, however, I left feeling disappointed and with a considerably lighter wallet. The grissini which came as a welcome were accompanied by a sun-dried tomato dip with cream cheese, nothing special, then a...very doughy loaf of bread which we found inedible. The langoustine bisque was pleasant enough but more creamy than bisque-y, lacking the depth of flavour that I was hoping for - maybe my fault for ordering it in a city 500kms from the sea. Our main course of sesame tuna was well and accurately cooked, but let down by a ridiculously sweet sauce, supposedly of ginger and orange, but overwhelmed by sweetness. Finally, about the Creme Brulee, the least said the better, granular and dense, none of the luscious creaminess one hopes for. In sum, I won't be returning although the 2012 Luis Cañas Reserva Rioja was delicious (there are no vintages in the wine list, I had to ask).More

We have family in Medellin and went to “La Cafetiere de Anita” for the first time a few years back, we loved it so much that every time we are in town we try to go. Not only has a great ambiance and the service...is excellent, but the sophisticated french menu is absolutely exquisite. We have tried their steaks with different sauces (pepper, blue cheese, etc.) and this time I had the tuna fillet with a ginger sauce that was wonderful. The menu has a variety of steaks, sea food and several options for appetizers. Don’t miss their profiteroles for dessert, they are yummy. The owner is always around making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and being taken care of, thank you!More

Yes La Cafetiere de Anita serves great food. Its ambiance could be excellent, but the restaurant was quite empty. Why we wondered? Was it the unusual location? Was it the uninterested staff? We do not know. But it deserves a more hospitable and kind service...where you feel welcome. Because the restaurant itself is great and has all it needs. except good staffing.More

We went there for lunch. While it is expensive for Medellin, the food and service we top notch. We were attended by Chef Anita herself. The "Entrecote Cafe de Paris", ont ooof the chef's recommended entrees, was absolutely wonderful, so were the desserts.

Anita came and made some suggestions, all of them were amazing options which we enjoyed immensely. This a great French restaurant in a delicate city of great people and service.

We held a breakfast meeting at this restaurant. I was impressed by the quality of food, the incredibly attentive service and their ability to accommodate the vegetarian in our group.

We had a large group on friday night (early Mother's day celebration). We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which gave our family group some privacy, and at the same time, allow us to "people watch" the main room. The service and food...were excellent. Of course, you pay for what you get. So, don't complain about the prices! Anita herself came to the table several times to make sure we were doing OK. Hoping to come back on my next trip to Medellin, and bring the family again!More
