Although this restaurant is recommended in the lonely planet guide as the best restaurant in Esfahan, the reality is totally different. We went in the evening. It seems to be rather popular with large tourist groups. Service is what you expect in a group tour restaurant (serve as fast as possible, no personal attention). We tried one of their highly... For the price, there was too little atmosphere (feels more like a railway station than a relaxed upmarket restaurant) and the food, although pleasant, did not stand out in any way. The menu choice is also quite predictable (and limited).

We had dinner in Shahrzad based on the advice of our tour guide. The restaurant has no intimacy, a large place build for receiving large groups only, very noisy, basically a big cantine. We ordered different dishes , and the 4 of us found the food ok. The salad was pathetic small, and not very appetizing. The lamb , or... More

We first went here for dinner and left without eating due to the masses of people and noise. The next day a friend took us back and we tried 2 local dishes. Both were average in taste and overpriced. There are way better places to eat in Esfahan!

If you have no reservation you might have to queue even it is a big restaurant. Food and service were excellent. We had a table in the corner with a good view over the restaurant.

There was a long lineup outside of the restaurant when we arrived, however, the look of satisfaction on the face of everyone leaving implied that it is obviously worth the wait. The cuisine was outstanding Persian classics, the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere and the staff was friendly. Well worth the visit.

If you have time, do not hesitate to stop by and eat there. Please don't forget that there is a long queue in front of the restaurant. Considering the taste of the food it worths waiting.

Big but nice restaurant. Mainly locals. Very busy, so sometimes people have to stand in line before they can get a table. As in most restaurants in Iran mainly kebabs on the menu. We had the barley soup and some salad, nice but nothing special. The trout came, to our surprise, as a deep-fried fish on the table. It tasted... More
