We were visiting Split during the Easter holidays and spend 2 consecutive evenings here. the first night was such a great experience that we were dragged there the next evening as well. The cocktails, the food and the live music were brilliant. the guys serving were very friendly and amiable. One of our best experiences with family. Must visit place... More

The location we came across when visiting the Palace. The food was ok, portions were minimal and presented well. We spent 419.00ku (£50.00) (56.00 euro) This included two large glasses of wine (two mains chicken/mixed meat) and two side dishes, the food was overpriced for what it was, but the staff were very attentive and with a live musician playing... The service here was very friendly and quite quick. In the sun it is a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by. The staff were helpful and took pictures for the visitors on their cameras. The down side is that this is very expensive and there are cheaper places to have a coffee.

We were going to go to Pizzeria Portos, but they were unexpectedly closed. The food was good, and the waiter was friendly. The tiramisu was good, but I've tasted better.

It is not for the ones on a budget but it offers a quality service and meals, it also has a good live music program during the summers appropriate for families, it is very relaxing and romantic spot to take a break in the summer evenings.

The best part of this restaurant is its location, so it knows it can overcharge for a measly fish soup with no fish in it, or triple the cost of a typical coffee for the regular price two minutes away at a cozier cafe. One other good thing: prompt, thoughtful service. And it looks like the menu has a deep... More

Luxor is located next to the cathedral and entrance to the basement/foundation of the Diocletian Palace. Food is ordinary tourist offering and is so-so, average. Service is OK, and location is good. Murals on the ceiling are interesting.

By far the most disappointing culinary experience of our week in Split. The tuna steak was overcooked&cold. Also, the overall ambience inside was just bad - uncomfortable with ugly decorations. Better stick with having a coffee on the outside cushions during the day.

This place is in a wonderful setting, just off the Peristyle in Split, and with the outline of an ancient temple on the floor. The breakfast was OK, but I'd go for the setting, rather than the food. Friendly staff.

Description
LVXOR Café is a place where the history of Split and of the entire world expresses itself in an unusual and picturesque way. It was named after the Egyptian city of Luxor, where the sphinxes, the mythical creatures, originate from. They were brought by the Emperor Diocletian in 305 A.D. to his recently built gigantic Palace situated at the coast of the Adriatic Sea which represents the pearl of the antique architecture with obvious traces of Ancient Egypt. The best preserved sphinx, and there were about thirty in the Palace, originates from the period of Pharaoh Tuthmosis, and was constructed 36 centuries ago. Up to this day, it has been the guardian of the imperial square – Peristil, guarding the Diocletian’s Mausoleum, - the Cathedral of St. Dujam, Lvxor Café and watching over the bliss of the city of Split
