Salads are good, but often over dressed. Great drink selection but pricey cocktails with not a lot of booze.

We were looking for a simple but tasty meal and got it at this resturant. Environment was casual and family friendly. Next time we will try some of their signsture dishes

Many of the restaurants in Arlington Center are not open for lunch on Mondays. We wound up at NYAJ; our experience with the Waltham branch had not been overly successful. I started with the chicken dumplings; the stuffing was bland and the dipping sauce was too acid and salty. My wife had the sweet potato chorizo soup; it was delicated... More

Joe's is our default eating place. Do not expect fine dining here, just good food at very reasonable prices. They try to be innovative and multicultural, and sometimes succeed. Do not overlook their pizza - it is excellent. Joe's bread is served with garlic-infused olive oil and it is the best anywhere. Don't miss their Peanut Butter Thing for dessert... More

I used to live in Arlington and this was one of my regular haunts. Since I moved to Nashua, NH I still stop in from time to time and it hasn't changed a bit. Still great food and selection of local brews and reliable wait staff. The only down side is its often crowded with long wait times and it... More

NYAJ's as we call it around here, is a great local restaurant. The bar is right in front of you as you walk in. They have some limited seating there, at the bar and at small tables. There's a sports channel on tv to watch. The drinks are fun with some being non-alcoholic. Prices are standard. The restaurant has an... More

My favorite thing here is the nachos. They are not your typical nachos. We have also eaten at other NYAJ locations, and like the cheese steak egg rolls as well (what can I say, I love appetizers). There are many interesting looking things to try on the menu, so we will be back again for sure.

Let’s start with the water and coffee. It was nice to have a slice of lemon with the water, and I always measure a restaurant by the coffee they serve. My choice is black and unsweetened, and the coffee here was excellent – so we were off to a fine start. My companion ordered a cup of tomato basil soup;... More

I can imagine it's a trick to expand while keeping that one-off allure that has locals coming back. Not Your Average Joe's pulls if off, and the downtown Arlington location leads the way with friendly service, creative dishes and community engagement. Each month they will donate 15% of your tab to the local non-profit-of-the-month! My Spaghetti Bolognese was re-engineered to... More

Creative cuisine without going to absurd extremes. The menu is imaginative and changes monthly to feature locally sourced seasonal fare. A real winner is the Wednesday $1 oyster deal, after 4 PM in the bar. We've always encountered friendly, helpful staff and their kitchen will 'do it your way.' Upon learning that we were celebrating our anniversary on one occasion,... More

What does creative casual cuisine mean? Exactly what it says. We"re creative, because we reject the same-old-same-old in favor of tastes that are interesting and unique. We're casual because while our food may be worth getting dressed up for, we invite you to come as you are. We're all about cuisine in the sense that our chefs apply high standards of culinary art. There it is. Creative. Casual. Cuisine. If it sounds like your kind of place, then you – like us- are not your average Joe.
