Every restaurant encounter and review is a composite of subjective and objective components, personal taste and experience. I'm mindful that it is easy to be picky and forget all the hard work that goes into keeping a successful restaurant going. Our last Thursday night dinner...More

Everything is made fresh!! Great selection for holiday gatherings. I ordered a mojito and the bartender had to go in the garden to pick fresh mint leaves. A great place to go if your meeting friends/family co-workers on Thursday nights for their "spoons" event.

This turned out to be a great spot for meeting traveling friends coming from the midwest on business. We all loved it. The appetizers were first rate, and the entrees a bit salty but otherwise outstanding. The attentive and complete service is what one would...More

I have always loved the Federal and I have eaten here more times than I can count. That said they have gotten way to complacent. Enough with the short ribs. Enough with the truffle Mac and cheese. Enough with the chicken bolognese. Enough with every...More

Nice restaurant. Drinks were good. Appetizer was good. Sirloin steak was not cooked as ordered (over cooked) and was on the tough side. No salad with meal. Bread was good, not great. Overall, I expected better from a fine dining restaurant.

When we first moved to the Springfield area in 1970, the Federal Hill Club was the best restaurant in town. We had many excellent meals there until the Morettis gave up the helm. Times and styles have changed, and the restaurant has gone through several...More

I've eaten here a few times wearing just jeans and a polo or a button down. Dress runs the gamut from suits/ties to casual. Just depends on the party. But you won't be uncomfortable being a little more than casual.

Built by Samuel Converse in 1862, the impressive Greek revival structure at 135 cooper street in Agawam, Massachusetts became home to the Federal Hill Club in 1936. Under the management of its owners, the Moretti family, that establishment remained a premiere restaurant for over fifty years. The Federal’s current owners Michael Presnal and Ralph Santaniello easily integrate the white linen elegance of that bygone era with a fresh and innovative “new American” cuisine that is perfectly prepared and impeccably served. Strong Italian and French influences inspire the contemporary culinary style of chef Presnal in dishes such as his red beet risotto, burnt tangerine glazed cod, and white-chocolate panna cotta. The Federal is dressed up as a special occasion restaurant, but is sociable and affordable enough for every occasion. The restaurant enjoys a dedicated following of appreciative diners from New York to Boston.
