This is an upscale restaurant. The risotto balls for an app'y are fantastic. Just had the pan roasted scallops and braised short ribs. We finished our plates and could had licked them clean!! Our waiter Shawn was the best.

A charming restaurant very different for Springfield. The prosciutto and fig pizza was amazing!! And the deep fried risotto balls - I've never had anything like them!! Great service as well definitely the highlight of my time in Springfield, MA.

the Federal is probably the best upscale restaurant in Western Mass. The food is excellent and service is great. Menu has something for everyone. I highly recommend.

I would like to say that my server was awesome and attentive! The food was decent. I love going to places in New England. Some of my favorites include Galaxy in Easthampton and Blue Heron in Sunderland. At The Federal I ordered the Steak Frite,...More

We dropped in at The Federal unexpectedly and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was creative and excellent, the service was wonderful and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. All four of us had an enjoyable meal and would recommend this restaurant.

We were disappointed. The Mac and cheese was limp and bland and the short rib was dry. The quail was tasty but overcooked and dry. The bacon wrapped figs were non-descript, but might have really popped with a balsamic reduction. The asparagus was overcooked, but...More

Starting with popcorn for a little change of taste, then great starters including a slab of foie gas, the main courses were delicious with a wonderful variety of options from lobster and other fish entrees to beef and duck. Desserts were great as well. To...More

I've eaten here a few times wearing just jeans and a polo or a button down. Dress runs the gamut from suits/ties to casual. Just depends on the party. But you won't be uncomfortable being a little more than casual.

Built by Samuel Converse in 1862, the impressive Greek revival structure at 135 cooper street in Agawam, Massachusetts became home to the Federal Hill Club in 1936. Under the management of its owners, the Moretti family, that establishment remained a premiere restaurant for over fifty years. The Federal’s current owners Michael Presnal and Ralph Santaniello easily integrate the white linen elegance of that bygone era with a fresh and innovative “new American” cuisine that is perfectly prepared and impeccably served. Strong Italian and French influences inspire the contemporary culinary style of chef Presnal in dishes such as his red beet risotto, burnt tangerine glazed cod, and white-chocolate panna cotta. The Federal is dressed up as a special occasion restaurant, but is sociable and affordable enough for every occasion. The restaurant enjoys a dedicated following of appreciative diners from New York to Boston.
