This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but certainly somewhere to visit whilst in Cusco - and not just for the (very excellent) alpaca steaks, but also for some classic Peruvian wine, as well. Recommended.

We went as a large group here and maybe that is why the service was not very good. As an example they did not offer coffee or desert to anyone. That being said, several of us selected one of the several alpaca tenderloin meals they...More

Prime location in the historic district. Highly recommend the choclo con fondue appetizer. I would best describe it as Peruvian Mac & Cheese. Big pieces of corn with a cheesy sauce & cheese curds. Extremely comforting. I tried the papa rellena clasica and although i...More

You see at a glance, as soon as you enter, that this one (close to the "Palacio Arzobispal") is a classy restaurant: you see it with the good taste of its layout. And the feeling of excellence continues when the ordered food arrives: no one...More

Make sure you eat on the rooftop terrace, for one of the best views of Cusco City. Extremely good avocado and eggplant based starters, and then I had the alpaca for mains. Very good indeed, nicely seasoned, very nicely cooked, tasted fantastic. All of the...More

When we first got here, we were a little turned off by the appearance of the restaurant and I almost asked my husband to leave but I am SO glad we stayed. We sat on the roof, with an amazing 360 degree view of Cusco....More

A very good restaurant, fresh products, very good choices of pisco sour. You have to ask for the terasse as it is an amazing view of the city, especially at night.

We were lucky as they could literally squeeze us in as we didnt have a booking but it was worth it to be in a busy corner. Food was amazing and the serves were so large we couldnt fit the amazing dessert in which was...More

Amazing food. Great service. They make chosing a vegetarian meal very easy - they simply mark dishes which can be turned into its vegegarian versions. They offer homemade potato chips with delicious salsa made of local herb (the waiter was kind enough to repeat the...More

We had a large group and reserved an upstairs table. But it looked like there were plenty of walk-in tables available.

Description
Our kitchen offers both tradtional and avant garde cuisine, always focusing on rediscovering age-old recipes that allow us to take yesterday's flavors to today's table. Our specialty is Criolle and Andean cuisine where we highlight the essence of this beautiful mix of varieties that provides us with an endless array of flavors and that each Peruvian carries in their veins. In appreciation for all products we utilize we allow ourselves to play with new flavors and sensations based on the immense diversity of native products available: aji (Peruvian chili pepper), distinct passion fruits, avocados, rice and corn varieties are some of our favorites to explore with. Slow cooking dishes and the high flames of our grill are our favorite preparation techniques to use here at Marcelo Batata.
