The MAP Café/Restaurant is one of Cusco’s best restaurants, the menu for which is directed by Coque Ossid, well known in Peru for his gastronomic talents and who studied at the Arpege in Paris, the MAP Café is located in a courtyard at the back of the city’s Pre Columbian Art Museum and is a space with all glass walls. With a group, we had to select our dishes from a set menu the day before but none were disappointed. The food here is indescribably good and all the dishes (and between us we tried just about everything) was superb. From the famed Andean Mushroom Soup, raw Amazon fish, the Corvina, Alpaca to the most delicious and unique desserts imaginable - frankly I've never seen food presentation to this standard. Everyone raved about their choice, I went with the Lucuma Kisses and it was presented so beautifully, it was a shame to eat it but I did and yummy; the lemon pie was also a wonderful surprise. This restaurant is not cheap but the experience was just so worth it. It is open for lunch 11:30 – 3:00 and dinner from 6:00 to 9:00pm daily except Thursdays.

If you are a self proclaimed foodie, you will want to dine at this restaurant. They served a five course tasting menu which presented many Peruvian flavors and ingredients in an upscale balanced way. Jhon, one of our servers, helped pair some beautiful Peruvian wines with our dishes and spoke English well so we could understand the description of our dishes. Compared to other Peruvian restaurants this is definitely expensive but compared to other restaurants of this caliber in the United States, this restaurant was a great value. Thank you to the entire for making one of rest evenings after hiking to Machu Picchu such a relaxing, amazing experience!

My partner and I had lunch here after walking through the art museum it's attached to. We both thought it was one of the best meals we've ever had. It's a white tablecloth, high end place with price to match but we felt reasonable given the quality. It was a five course fixed menu that was a sampling of Peruvian cuisine. Everything was excellent, delicate, not too heavy, that let all the different flavors come though. Really special experience.

We wanted to celebrate our last night in Peru with a special culinary experience and the least we can say is that we found the perfect place for it. The 5-course-menu, thought as a journey through Peru’s regions, was absolutely delicious and very original, with a great attention to detail. On top of it, The ambiance in the middle of the museums patio (the museum is by the way one of the best in Cusco) and the perfect service from Jhon who took great care of us and explained every meal with passion made it a very special evening.

We experienced the most delicious, flavorful tasting meal at MAP Cafe for lunch today. Each course - which in itself was a plethora of delightful mouth parties and natural colors — represented a variety of foods true to the area, and our server Jhon’s explanation of each was as if we were in a culinary class. Highly recommended as part of your Cusco itinerary!

Absolutely wonderful 5-course lunch at the MAP café, in the Museo de Arte Precolombino in Cusco - luckily only a 2 minute walk from our hotel! Food is on a par with some of my favorite restaurants, including Michelin star restaurants. Staff were wonderfully attentive and translated the unique Peruvian ingredients to their closest counterparts. Chef creates exquisite dishes based on Peruvian traditional food. We also enjoyed a delicious "Poison Inka" cocktail... then also had a Pisco Sour with Gran Demonto Mosto Verde, recommended by our excellent waiter, Jhon. The assistant waiter, whose name I unfortunately don't recall, was also excellent! Extremely highly recommended!

We asked our hotel concierge to recommend a special restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and they said this restaurant was in a unique setting. After researching we thought it sounded ideal and booked the table for 6:30pm. We arrived and sat down promptly and all looked promising. However that’s when it all went wrong. Bearing in mind we were the only customers in the restaurant it took 20 minutes after receiving the menus for them to take our order. For the first 30 minutes they were rearranging all the tables, dragging them around what is a small intimate setting. Then a group of 30-40 people arrived, clearly as part of a group and just dominated the room. There were times I couldn’t hear my wife across the table due to the constant noise, far from what should have been a romantic evening. We rushed through our courses as we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. When the time for the bill arrived the waiter asked whether we wanted to leave a tip and I said no and explained why. He took offence at this and said all our issues were separate from his service. Maybe so but I do not separate. But then all other restaurants we have eaten at in Peru have in small print that vat is included and whether service is, which typically we have found to be yes at 10%. These menus made no reference to vat and no mention to service charge. So I assumed both were included. So if you have an issue in not receiving a tip perhaps make it clear on the menu what is and isn’t included in the price. That said we had a waitress take our order and all the waiter did was brought our dishes to the table, not even friendly chat. I appreciate much of the issues were caused by having such a large group in what is a small intimate setting but can only express a verdict on our own experience.

We had an excellent dinner here, particularly notable because we were still full from lunch but ate anyway. How could we resist? Each course was beautifully presented and the waiter’s (Johann’s) description added to our appreciation. We found the traditional Peruvian foods prepared and presented in a 5-star manner to be very classy. Go! We were too early at 7:00. Book at 7:30.

In the courtyard of the museum, MAP gave us the best meal we had in Cusco. It's in a small (compared to the courtyard) glass-enclosed structure. Our meal was great, with mushroom capchi, corn ravioli with veal cheeks, chicken confit with pumpkin, and lucama kisses. Excellent meal.

My husband, two adult children and I ate here last night and had the most spectacular meal. The five course tasting menu was superb and our waiter told us not only about all the ingredients but the areas of Peru where the food was from. The restaurant is located inside the MAP Museum which is definitely worth the time. This was probably one of the best meals ever.

The MAP Cafe is located in the courtyard of the Pre-Colombian Museum, and we came based on a recommendation of our daughter, who had eaten here 15 years ago. The quality hasn’t changed! We were (unfortunately) the only guests for dinner last night, and enjoyed the five course tasting menu of native foods with a contemporary twist. Jhon, our waiter, took time to explain each dish, pointing out the area of Peru from which it originates, the preparation which makes it special and exactly the best way to approach eating it - whether by fork, spoon or hand. The pace was leisurely but not slow, the portions were sensible and the presentation was impeccable. The quality of the food here matched that of Mayta in Lima. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, so not the sort of place that gets lots of walk-in traffic, and the pandemic has done it no favors. Don’t miss it!

A real gem tucked away in a Museum in Cuzco. We had a special five course menu that was one of the best we have had in Peru. The meal which was brought to life by our server/host John was interesting and a delight to the palate. We traveled the regions of Peru through food from the coast to the mountains to the sea to the jungle. Each dish was expertly presented and explained. We finished our meal and asked to speak with the chef with whom we congratulated with applause. We could not have found a better setting and meal for our last evening in Peru

This restaurant is a small glass insert inside the courtyard of the Pre columbian museum. It’s a grand building so although the restaurant fit out is simple, the scene outside is striking as you look onto the lovely fountain. We probably chose the wrong night to visit- Valentines evening & we were the second sitting- supposedly at 9 pm but the diners in the sitting before refused to leave at the time they were allowed. This meant we waited in the cold outside. I could see the staff were anxious about this & they tried to assist with lighting heaters for us.Finally we sat down almost 30 mins after the booked time. We had been trekking in Manchu Picchu that day & were famished so quite hangry by then. After some great food our mood improved greatly. The service was probably not as good as usual with the frantic change over of diners. The servings of our set course dinner ( I assume this was because of Valentines) were delicate but very delicious. I especially liked the guinea pig taquito (I had been against trying it but the lovely waiter convinced me with his humour) The dessert was also outstanding.

THE BEST ONE Sincerely, it was an extraordinary experience. From start to finish it is a true gastronomic journey through the coast, mountains and jungle of Peru with exquisite dishes, which are a concert of flavors in perfect balance, accompanied by delicious and original drinks that are absolutely perfect. Our host, John, was outstanding in everything; very good in all the details. MAP Café should be called “MAP Gourmet” and without a doubt, it should be included in the Top 10 of the best restaurants in the world. Added to all this, the fact of being located inside the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, turned this gastronomic experience into something truly extraordinary. No 5; I give it 10 stars.

Excellent flavors, presentation and attention. Of the richest things we've ever eaten in Peru. Highly recommended this place. The atmosphere was very nice and romantic. Jhon was our waiter, explained each dish in detail and gave us Peruvian context of the ingredients of these.
