Visited 1.45pm. Supposed to be peak period but people were leaving and there were empty seats. Asked to sit at the corner of a six seater high table occupied by just one person but was rejected. Said it was for more people but was seated...at a 3 seater side table instead. Doesn’t make sense, it’s not space optimisation when you have only one person sitting at a table of 6. I was bounced around twice, and was here just for one coffee. Staff didn’t have empowerment to make decisions, always referring to the manager. Honestly, it’s a coffee shop, turn around is supposed to be quick, just be flexible and even If I’m dining solo, does not mean I won’t order as much as 2. 15minutes in and observing, they now allowed a new guest (1 person) to sit at the 6 seater. Service discrimination! Because I was wearing active wear? Well, not coming back for sure, regardless how good the coffee is.More

Cute cafe in a hipster neighbourhood with a great selection of breakfast, brunch and healthy lunch options. Highly recommend the warm veg salad and the bahn mi bowl. They also have a good selection of fresh juices.

Tiong Bahru is a place where one is spoilt for choice on cafes, and most of them serve beautiful coffee coupled with yummy pastries. Forty Hands tops my list not just because they wowed me with their coffee (and their yummy red bean bun), but...mainly because of the excellent service I’ve experienced at the Tiong Bahru branch. One particular person I would single out is Clarissa - she made every effort to make sure customers waiting in line are served on a first come first serve basis, despite getting verbally abused by unreasonable and rude customers who try to bulldoze their way through. She stands impressively firm to her belief that “I’m doing the right thing”, and tries to make it up to customers for the long waiting time when we know the availability of tables is not within her control. This, is service excellence, and this is what sets Forty Hands above the others.More

Overall experience was great! Really enjoyed the food that we’ve ordered. Ambience - can be really crowded and small space. Reserved table is mostly recommended, I think they accept reservation. If not, need to be there and queue for quite sometime especially if you’re more...than 2 pax. Menu - good variety of food and drinks to choose. I think they have local and western choices can’t remember. Staff - since it’s very busy place, you can’t really feel the customer service here. You have to seek for their attention and you order over the counter and pay before they’ll serve the food and drinks. Quality and Portion of Food and Drinks - we’re really happy with the food that we all ordered. But not really satisfied with the brew coffee that we’ve ordered. We’re expecting our large black coffee would taste strong but we’re disappointed that it’s lack of taste and kick. Price - can’t really remember but I think it’s quite decent with the portion. Will visit again for the food and perhaps will order regular size of coffee instead next time.More

Really liked this place because the food was super tasty and the atmosphere was really cool. The boa are really filling and come with huge portion of meat. Oat shaken coffee was amazing and big breakfast is enough for 2 people for sure! The only...issue is that they run out of items by noon or earlier so get their early or prepare for backup selection. The nice part is they might company you with a little treat if they don’t have your 1st and 2nd pick! Really enjoyed the place and only took a star away because so many items were out when we got there at 12.30! Also, the area is super cool and nice to explore (creamy 2 doors down, quant book shop across the street, etc).More

I dined here once during a recent visit to Singapore while exploring the neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru...This is a real cool place to visit for coffee and cake or a full meal. The street outside was so quiet...What a lovely surprise to step inside this busy,vibrant...place!...Service was efficient and friendly and the food was very good....Prices were reasonable and it made for an altogether very pleasant dining experience...I will definitely return...Top marks...10 out of 10.More

A small cafe hidden in Tiong bahru. The menu is modern local, and very well done. It can be very crowded though because of the small space

Ordered the falafel, which was pretty good, and my friend had the Croque monsieur, which seemed disappointingly small for the price. The seating is uncomfortable too, the chairs are stools and we were seated next to a pipe. At least the music and decor is...funky!More

Good coffee, cool location, food good. Unfortunately our seat was by a hot pipe, easy to burn your arm on. Nice vibe, interesting decor, great service.

Off the beaten track but well worth the effort to find it. The cafe is only narrow with a down stairs seating area that looks a bit distressed, but don’t let that put you off. Coffee was excellent prepared by people who know what they...are doing and the latte art was impressive. Don’t know why anyone would criticise the coffee here.More

Nothing's changed about this place - it's still in the same ol' dinghy corner along Tiong Bahru. Their high-bar stools are really very cramped and make you want to leave quickly after you finish your food (I guess that's their strategy to prevent overcrowding). When...ordering along the bar, you will have to do the tango with other patrons trying to enter/exit the establishment due to the cramped layout. Good luck to you if you are sitting along the counter and get a 'back-rub' from someone trying to pass you by. Food quality was nothing to shout about - the prices were high for the sad, sad quality. The coffee was WAY too acidic and needed a good dose of sugar to cover up the bad/sour taste. Why do so many reviewers say the coffee here is top-notch? I guess they REALLY don't know their coffees... just like the many other teenagers who come here for a "cold" or "iced" coffee, and then claim to be coffee connoisseurs.More
