my group of 10 ordered the set meal. once everybody sat down, no one came to attend to us for a good 5 mins. Attitude - one of the captain, displaying one of the worst attitude, was very impatient - just throwing us the menu and walked away. i would expect him to give us some recommendation. towards the end,... Nestled in a heritage shophouse along Upper Cross Street in Singapore, The Spring Court Restaurant’s outer façade perfectly reflects the allure of its rich cultural authentic chinese cuisine. This restaurant successfully transforms traditional humble dishes into an elegant dining experience. The Spring Garden’s signature dish of popiah : The popiah is very well packed and very generous in its food... More

This old restaurant has not lived up to its reputation. Its food has a bland if not tasteless even for its signature dishes like pan fried horfun with prawn omelette, Superior shark's fin with crab meat soup., Fried crab meat with chicken liver roll, Roasted chicken with minced prawn. All I found disappointing taste and flavor. Not worth a try.

Spring Court is regarded as the oldest Chinese restaurant in Singapore. It was established in 1929 and had gone through the tumultous years of Singapore history. It is still going strong and doing well because they offer excellent quality of Singapore Chinese cuisine which is a fusion of all the dialectic cuisines in Singapore. They offer many signature dishes such... More

We came here for a family dinner. The food was very delicious and the service was good too. The portion of the food was relatively big and the price was very reasonable.

This is reported to be the oldest Cantonese restaurant in Singapore. I went here with a group of 8 friends and was very pleased to see that the restaurant was busy mostly with locals, only a very few tourists, which for me, is always a good sign. We had one of the set menus which included a suckling pig and... More

This is one of the founding Cantonese restaurants in Singapore and it is coming ot 100 year old. It had its hey day back in the 60-70. It was my first visit in after 15 years as Hong Kong style Cantonese was invading the Cantonese restaurant scene and we were spoiled for choices. It had since expanded to a 4-storey... More

This is a restaurant with a long history in Singapore. Came here with my extended family for reunion dinner the other day. The "Yam Ring with prawns" was really good - not many restaurants knows how to do it so well nowadays. But their famous "popiah" is average in taste. Their roasted pork, fried mee sua and sweet yam paste... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
