Otherwise, in my opinion, there are better places out there. We actually rated their braised chicken wings higher than the soufflé.. Service staff could have been better too (and this is already factoring and in anticipation of the service staff standards in Hong Kong).

In Hong Kong there are a lot of choices to eat so I would give this place a miss. It is quite pricey for the quality of the food. Go elsewhere and you'll be happier.

We went out to have dinner with a friend (2 families) and they can join middle booths into long table by removing the divider. Their specialty is the chicken wings in Swiss sauce (there's a bit of history about it in the menu) and the whole pigeon. The soufflé dessert is huge. We were really full by the end of... More

I was highly recommended by friends to try out this restaurant. But to my disappointment, the food didn't taste as good as what I expected. The Swiss chicken wings were not well marinated.... they were tasty on the outside but not the inside. The roasted pigeon, beef horfun and the pork dish with rice (can't remember what it was called)... More

Really excellent restaurant serving delicious food, did not compromise with time, remained true to the golden era of Canton / Hong Kong style cooking. A time honoured bend of unique fusion of old Cantonese and Western cooking (the restaurant started in the 1860s in Canton) . The pigeon and smoked fish were just divine. The décor was old style glamour... More

The food is delicious! Must order the soufflé! It is huge, puffy and yummy! The chicken wings and beef hor fun/ noodle are very delicious! Portion is huge. Do share if you could not eat much. The place is crowded during peak hours. If you come in late afternoon, usually can get seats. Highly recommended! The ambience is old Hong... More

I did not know that this traditional Cha Can Ting existed in Hong Kong since 1860. The restaurant does have good ambience, luckily the wait is not too long even if you have not made a reservation prior to going there. My cousin who treated me to the dinner had the salmon and she said that that was not bad.... More

No one had told us about this old establishment before we left on our Hong Kong food trip so it was to our utter delight that we walked into Tai Ping Koon on a Friday night. Judging from the local crowd and their friendly banter with the old waiters (dressed in vests and bow-ties), we figured TPK must be a... More

Even though this restaurant was founded in 1860, it still runs very well and serves very good food. My family came for lunch a couple minutes before the rush hour which is about at 11:30. Their menu is unique, adding foods you would not expect to be with other foods. However, the combination is great. Their souffle was both spectacular... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
