Look! Here’s the thing about Mr Wongs! You go there for an experience! Mr Wong is off the hook! He is hilarious! He took the menu from us before we selected a meal and just ordered for us! The food was actually brilliant but the experience was unforgettable. If you are in Hong Kong and don’t take yourself too serious, visit mr Wong!!!

Best place ever, especially as an exchange student!! Amazing and fun service from Mr. Wong himself as well as surprisingly good food! And of course the cheap never ending flow of beer!

The absolute best spot for a group of friends to get food and unlimited drinks for a night. Mr Wong is a true gem and so nice to everyone.
Me and my friends studied in HK last year and went here at least once per week!

The place is super friendly. You can have a super huge quantity of average cheap food. But the problem is the RAT that we saw running by the ceiling, close to the main door, by the air acon conducts. Sorry but I had to say it.

It is not very often that I am tempted to write a review about a restaurant especially a bad experience one, but our recent visit to Mr. Wongs in the CBD has to be shared.
The occasion was our 50th wedding anniversary and my wife was keen to go there as part of our weekend away. We had been to Mr. Wong’s before and enjoyed it and as we were staying nearby it seemed ideal for a re-visit..
We did leave our attempt to book a bit late and could only secure a 2.15pm booking. To secure our booking, via the internet, we had to provide our card details and a $100 per head deposit. There was no reference or mention that we had to expend our $200 until after we sat down and enquired.
We acknowledge the place is noisey and crowded at lunch tIme and not the best venue for significant romantic occasion as a 50th wedding anniversary.
The service was up to expectations and our waiter very obliging. We ordered our food (we planned no alcoholic beverages) and about 2.45pm (eating our entrees) we were told our expenditure was only around $140 and if we wanted to order any more food we had to do so now as last orders had to be in as the kitchen closes at 3pm! We then ordered a take away meal and increased the bill to close to $170. I left the balance as a tip to our waiter. (As we’re staying in a hotel we had no way heating up our take away so we were limited somewhat on what we could order. We ate this takeaway the next night when we arrived home).ll
The service was OK, the food was good, but the expectation for a couple to eat $200 worth of Chinese at lunch was not good. We did make enquires from our daughter who visited Mr. Wongs a few weeks ago and she said there was no $100 minimum expenditure per head to her knowledge.
So the end of our journey is we will not be going back to Mr. Wongs and will be sharing our experience to anyone who asks, albeit to a limited audience.

First, the food was fine for the standard cheap Chinese stuff. And as for the review that mentioned a rat, we saw a rat on the backside of the building as we were coming down off the walkway ramp on our way to this restaurant. It stopped and looked at us, like it was warning us not to go there. The problem was how "friendly" Mr. Wong is. His English is bad to the point of being gibberish, he wouldn't stop talking an laughing, he would stop shoving food on us and he wouldn't let us leave. To make the experience even more uncomfortable, he has a Trump "Make America Great Again" bumper sticker on his big welcome sign, and he had to show us his red MAGA hat! No amount of eye-rolling and head-shaking clued him in to the fact that we found this offensive. Apparently he has relatives all over the U.S. and equates a country's leader with the country itself. He does not understand that in democracies the head of government is a temporary position. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We should've listened to the rat.

After living in Hong Kong for 6 months, I had not found a cheap yet tasty restaurant. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a go with a friend, we were expecting the hype to be a little over-the-top, but actually the reviews are very accurate. Mr.Wong is a great host, who really seems to be interested in what you have to say, and even gave us travel tips to get home faster (bonus)! The food was fantastic but we ordered so much and couldn't eat it all. 88 dollars for the amount of food and drink you get is incredible, couldn't recommend this place more!!
Food recommendations:
-Sweet and sour fish - 10/10
-Chicken noodles - 6/10
-Spring rolls and dumplings - 9/10
-Chicken curry - 5/10 (wasn't to my taste but my friend really enjoyed it)
-Beef dish (not sure 100% of the name but Mr.Wong will surely suggest it to you) - 9/10
-Broccoli - 10/10 (definitely a stand out dish)

Everything about this place is great and is a must go while you’re in HK! The food is tasty and freshly cooked and there’s so much to choose from. Mr Wong is an entertaining character who will make you laugh throughout your time there. Unlimited food and drinks (beer, wine, etc) for $8! I’ll be returning to Wongy’s next time I’m in HK

I read the reviews before coming and was very satisfied. The lunch set was 45 hkd and included a huge portion of a dish with rice (We got egg and pork, and another pig knuckle) as well as soup and a drink (coffee or milk tea). We were very happy with the taste and speedy service. I highly recommend this place for a quick, cheap lunch! They also have an English menu but we were able to speak Mandarin.
