We have had several nice stops at Levain Bakery in PMQ in Central district this year. They make very nice breads and light bites for those seeking a fresh sandwich or coffee & cake stop during afternoons. Opening hours are 12-8pm (Sun - Thurs), 12-9pm (Fri-Sat). I recently had an oatmeal cookie with raspberry, flax seeds and other tasty bits.... More

KC a self taught baker has produced a fantastic selection of breads, delicious sourdough and he also has great coffee which he roasts himself! A must visit if you're in the area and PMQ is worth a visit a great selection of designer wares it's a shame there's not more visitors during the week.

Firstly, the rye bread and that I sampled during this trip was very good, but I love pastries and viennoiserie so naturally I was drawn towards trying a croissant, a coffee trunk and a matcha brioche. The croissant was underproofed and you could not even see the laminations. Upon examining a cross section, there was a dense piece of dough... More

Today I am finishing a loaf of cherished Caraway Rye with Walnuts. It is perfect. The best rye you've never eaten. The Bavarin Rye at Mandarin Oriental shops in Bangkok used, though not for years, have a good rye.. it satisfied the urge but was always slightly off.. not enough caraway.. accidently added cumin.. this 'n' that.. But Levain, I... More

This bakery has real sourdough (made from sourdough starter, not yeast). They have a wide variety of flours and additions...some very creative. Taste the samples before buying - I guarantee you'll want to bring some home(or even your hotel)!

I was in Hong Kong for only a few hours so I made this my only stop. It was worth it. The sourdough rye bread made the sandwich the best Reuben I've tasted. I picked up a lot of loaves of assorted breads which I'm still enjoying. These are the real deal fresh artisan breads made with care and top... More

Levain Bakery has relocated to the second floor at PMQ on Aberdeen Street. We stopped here recently and enjoyed a very good speciality sandwich and mocha. Levain bakery specialises in European style artisan breads which you can buy and take home with you. They also have a small seating area where you can enjoy hand-made sandwiches, fresh made desserts and... More

Simply delicious. Sourdough Rye with black tea, caraway and walnuts, Vermont Sourdough (think a SF boule or bowl for soup), Chocolate Bread, Sourdough Rye with Blue Cheese and Walnuts. Only a few of the selections. I think I remember a loaf with longan and red wine as well.An Asian bakery that sells no day old bread.. And the breads keep... More
