I had a great breakfast here. So came back the next day for lunch. And then the day after for dinner. The food here is just phenomenal - a simple but imaginative menu, superbly executed. This really is vegan food at its absolute best. Great for a solo diner like me, you can sit at the bar or on the... More

The staff is very good and accommodating, which gives them some points. Unfortunately, I found the menu deceptive as things appear as soups without the word soup, posted menus can't be purchased and fancy words are used to make you feel impressed.

Dear Phil, Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you felt that our staff and service staff was accommodative and that you at least felt impressed by the 'fancy' usage of words. What you thought of 'deceptive' is actually simply 'culinary vocabulary'. Culinary artistry is an entire study which takes decades of experience to develop. Our Executive Chef was trained... More

Omg! We went for our wedding anniversary and it was so spot on, we keep talking about that amazing vegan dinner we have for days! Love everything! The seasonal menu, the decor and the staff, even the stoneware was so nice, really authentic and handmade pieces. Foto amazing! We order the bread comes with a nice caju deep, the vegan... More

We ate breakfast at Grassroots almost every day for a week! The food is interesting, healthy and delicious. Water is topped up with vanilla and citrus, the scrambled eggs are the best I have ever tasted and the turmeric hot drink not to be missed.

This place may be heaven for those who have food allergies...or not it's still really good! My friend started out with Mary's kind of juice cleanse, which was basically a bloody mary with Sriracha and other juices...it was to die for. We shared the popcorn chicken, and that met the expectations that I gathered from the other comments, so yummy... More

We took a visiting vegetarian friend to this restaurant and had a pleasant, if rather pricey, meal. Pros: imaginative menu - lots of different vegetarian / vegan options, including desserts. Generally pretty interesting flavours, a good range of ingredients and filling mains. The restaurant is also very attractively decorated and lit, and we were seated in a very comfortable corner... Visited this cute café which is located near the Cat Street Market and Man Mo Temple on Hong Kong Island. The interiors are fresh, green and soothing. The host helped us with what to order for our meals- we opted for Poached Eggs with Avocado and Chickpea Miso Ramen- the water served had vanilla and mint flavour (a very different... More

I loved already the small restaurant in SYP which she had before. The "new one" is also offering great and healthy food. Also the juices and smoothies are great and always freshly made. Maybe the menus can be changed more often?! Only the service should be improved!

Staying in Sheung Wan

Neighbourhood Profile
Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.
