Realised that I hadn't written a review about this restaurant despite having been on several occasions and loving it every time. Outdoor dining at DB Plaza just a minute's walk from the ferry. Numerous beers and wines available and a menu with a great variety...of cuisine. Sitting there, I almost feel that if I dreamt for just a few seconds my mind would be sitting at a seaside cafe in France or Italy. For starters, the goats cheese spring rolls are delicious. Not soggy, not overly fried, just perfect. Not sure what the sauce was with them but it really did the trick and made them taste delicious. Likewise the Gambas Pil Pil. On this occasion we had battered fish n chips, frutti di mare and a steak and chips. All were cooked to perfection. No exceptions. The fish they use is barrumndi. Maybe not the haddock or cod that I'm more used to, but it came out very hot and in a batter that was cooked just right. Not too crispy and overcooked and not soggy either. The tartar sauce was really nice and I suspect home made or from a more expensive brand. It certainly wasn't the usual mush. Chips were nice, again they came out hot and neither soggy nor overdone. The peas with them were nicely cooked (with onion?). On previous occasions I have ordered the Tunisian lamb as well as the lamb in red wine and on both occasions, I also thought the dishes were cooked to a very high standard. The service at the restaurant was very good despite it being a very busy day. I could see that they were packed out and people kept arriving and having to wait and yet the staff kept their cool. They were attentive but not overly so, clearly knew the menu and were polite yet not 'stand off-ish'. The venue is clean Would I return? 100% yes. It's an excellent, friendly restaurant with great food. The downside? Well there really isn't any, although I wish their prices were a bit cheaper. Don't take that the wrong way; as I suppose the old thing about getting what you pay for is appropriate here. It can however be very busy and unfortunately there were people smoking cigarettes close to us which put me off. I'm not anti-smoking. There are venues where it doesn't bother me but a family restaurant is not a place where it should be allowed. If it wasn't for the smoke, I would have given this restaurant five stars. Otherwise, fantastic.More
