Tucked away in one of the streets near Central, is Butao King Ramen. We went there on a rainy evening but we so lucky to get seats immediately. The queue started soon after. Me and my son both loved the soup and the Ramen. The "standard" options like spiciness, softness that are provided at any respectable Ramen restaurants are all... More

My first ramen adventure in Hong kong and I'm hooked. The butao King (squid ink ramen) is a must try. It's made of Tonkatsu broth with squid ink. The squid ink adds a pleasant earthiness creating a rich murky broth. You can customize them from normal to super rich broth, how spicy, and how done your noodles. The pork butt... More

Coming from the Uk and being used to the Ramen dishes at Wagamama this place makes them seem like poor imitations without flavour. This place is friendly, cosy and most importantly serves quickly up flavourful dishes to affordable prices. If you like your Ramen bowls look no further. This is the place to eat them! Very central location next to... More

We got there at around 9:30 pm, queued for around 5 mins and then got seated. They got english menu and english order sheets, the staffs were young and can speak english. I've been to butao twice before, and the service were always excellent. The 3 of us ordered the same original ramen with different version and they remembered who... More

One of my favourite ramen places in town and to date yet to be beaten. What's so good about it. At its most basic it's the broth - pork bone broth. Deep and full of flavour. You get to choose a number of things - hardness of the ramen, thickness of the ramen, richness of the broth, how much garlic,... More

The best ramen I know, better than many I had in Tokyo itself. I am a regular there, as I live in HK. I always go for the black ramen, totally amazing, staff is always great too, very friendly always, super efficient without rushing you even when it's busy (that is to say, all the time!!!) and are also able... We had never heard of Ramen before let alone eaten it but this was our first night in Central Hong Kong and were disappointed by the sight of so many western type expensive restaurants. Then we stumbled across this restaurant that was obviously popular with locals. The menu was unreadable but the waitress very helpful and guided us through the... More

If you have a craving for flaccid tasteless instant ramen, this is not your place! Well regarded locally for its intense stocks and good indredients. A very simple order system- tick a chit for preference of 5 stocks, noodle size and hardness, and additional ingredients. A short wait later an excellent bowl of ramen is delivered from a small kitchen.... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
