I had dinner here lately and thought it was a great restaurant. I am not a specialist when it comes to Middle Eastern Cuisine but I can really recommend this place. The service is very attentive and helpful (also with the choice of dishes), everything I ate was fresh, prepared with detail and tasty. The Split Lentil Salad as a... More

Positively located outside the regular tourist trail, you'll find Sofra tucked in a nice Sha3by (local) area. It is stylishly decorated with vintage Egyptian/arabesque furniture and tiles. It's clean, the food is exquisite and the service is great. We sampled many mezzehs and main dishes (Try the fish and chicken tagen) and the juice was fresh and tasty. The kids... More

With 11 in our party we tried many things on the menu Including vegetarian , fish, meat and pigeon. All good. Wonderful fresh juices, guava, Melon, strawberry and more. Sat on the roof, friendly staff, loved it. They also catered a lunch brought out to a boat on the Nile. The food arrived hot! Highly recommended

While in Luxor in November, we ate a Sofra two times. The food, service, and price were great. It was my first time eating pigeon and it was far better than I expected.

We've traveled to many places in our three weeks in Egypt and Sofra had the best food and the best service. We had the 4 cold and 4 hot appetizers special and liked everything so much we decided to order the lamb stew, which also came out good. Sheeha was reasonably priced and came with clean water (can't saw that... More

A friend brought me there and it looked impressive for Egyptian standards but it didn't take long to be disappointed. Firstly, it was quite chilly and I wanted an Egyptian hot drink - Sahlab. They didn't have it that day - instead of running to the shop next door and getting the powder - they just said NO. I went... More

This was our guide’s favorite restaurant in Luxor and we ended up going there a couple of times, I thought it was ok, but there were a couple of down sides. On our first visit I had the duck, which was overcooked and a little tasteless, but the second time I had the lamb chops which were excellent. The restaurant... More

A couple that eats there almost every day when they visit Luxor turned us on to this restaurant. They actually showed up the night we ate there and were making arrangements to take cooking lessons with the owner- that says a lot! First, the restaurant is in a 1930s house with tile floors, private diner rooms, a larger open space... More
