First stop in seoul as it was just below our hotel. Great dumpling, we had the different sampler each in which you get 10 of them, and some grilled dumplings with two beers for 30 euro. Did notice any difference to the other din tai restuarants as we tried a few of them. We had to wait 5 minutes for... More

From the get go we should have left after having them bring us three different teapots because the tea was merely lukewarm. As the meal progressed, it was more of the same. The food came out warm but not hot! I have eaten at the Bellevue, Seattle, Los Angeles and Australia outlets and all were far better than this one:(... More

I just love Din Tai Fung. The dumplings are great as well as most of the other dishes. It's nice that you can see them make the dumplings 'live'. Only downside when your eating there alone: they don' t have a solo menu. Since I want to have dumplings but also veggies and noodles I always end up with way... More

Beware! For those who know Din Tai Fung from Taiwan (or HK, S'pore or China) this one is a very pale comparison!! So disappointing!! The ambiance is not there, the staff is poorly managed and the food is definitely not like the others! A terrible franchise.. The Taiwanese owners should take back this franchise and put the magic back into... More

Had a late lunch at 3pm and the place was empty. I tried the Xialongbao sampler, Spicy Cucumber, Shrimp and Pork shumai, and the Spicy Pork Wonton, washing it all down with Peach ice tea. Everything came at once, and some of it was not very warm. The Xialongbao were way below standard in both taste and execution. The shumai... More

A group of six of us stopped into this well-known franchised dumpling restaurant on a hot summer Sunday. We waited about 10 mins for a table, but as we departed the line was much longer. The food was plentiful and very tasty, without being expensive. We sampled Dim Sum dumplings, wanton rolls, fried rice, and kimchi cucumbers. The service was... More

Excellent dim sums. The fried rice and spicy fried chicken are brilliant as well.We visited it twice on our ten day visit to Seoul.

I am a big fan of Dim Sum, and I have always heard of Din Tai Fung but don't live by one so I was excited when I was in Seoul to hear there was one here. I made it a point one day to make it over to the restaurant and I am glad I did! the Xiao Long... More

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighbourhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighbourhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighbourhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighbourhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
