When many ashkenazim first come to Israel they are absolutely sure that they will find gefilte fish at every corner. Soon they realize that it is opposite: one has to search for it. Frankly, it's just a handful of ashkenazi restaurants, I know about only two in Tel Aviv (it's possible to find more (delis especially) in haredi neighborhoods). That's... More

Restaurant with Jewish tradition food, from 1941. Here you'll find not only food, also the warmth of a traditional family service, transmitted from mother to daughte. L so if you want to enjoy a traditional homemade food with a family atmosphere, this is the place ..public Transport Whatever the outcome in Tel Aviv ..

I read about Cafe Batya in Fodors, and wanted to have an old fashioned hamishe meal. I went late in the afternoon, and no one else was there at the time. The waitress was slow to come over to take my order, but the food more than made up for the poor service. I had the soup with a knadle,... More

We came in a big group for a Friday family dinner. Already entering we saw the new location is definitely not set for dinner events. Too bright, too loud, definitely not a pleasant atmosphere. But that's only the first point. The main problem was the service. Never in my life had I encountered such a baa, unprofessional service, and I... More

We went to this restaurant with our mother in law, in order to taste the traditional Jewish food from Poland and Russia. The restaurant is located in the center and accessible for disable people. It was renovated and is very clean and welcoming. We ordered appetizers that included Gefilte Fish (Stuffed Fish), and chicken soup with "Kenidalech". It was served... More

Called ahead to make reservations for Friday dinner. Found out from very friendly owner that they were in a new location. Had our table waiting when we arrived. My children had matzo ball soup. Wife and I had chopped liver, geffilte fish, and pickles. We only had room for one main course of goose with a side of choulant. Great... More

This restaurant is pleasant and non pretentious, with great food at good prices. I had their excellent stuffed carp with wonderful horseradish. It was superb! The dumplings (kreplach) were somewhat too greasy but also very good. The service was friendly and quick. And most importantly it reminded me of the good my grandmother would make (though not as well).
