Reviewed yesterday NEW

Found Berta in the middle of Jerusalem, which stayed open while many other places were closing for Shabbat on Friday, as is the custom. They have both indoor and outdoor tables in the shade. Friendly staff and good service. Food was good, well cooked and presented and the prices were reasonable for Jerusalem.

We just stumbled upon this place and are so happy about it. The most amazing israeli breakfast. One is enough for 2 persons. 52 nis. They are open on shabat.

The appetizers were good, that's the only positive note. The main courses failed. We took hamburgers with dry bread and the kebab was completely dry with a side dish of instant mash potatoes... for the price they ask, its not acceptable.

A very disappointing restaurant experience. I ended up returning my meal and could not stomach to try anything else. The experience was further marred by a grumpy waiter who did not seem to know the menu or have basic customer service. The rest of my group found the food to be mediocre and over priced for what you got. For... More

Nice location in the middle of town. We set on the street, nice cozy close balcony. We had three breakfast. Service was excellent -Adi. Food was good, coffee was excellent. I think the price is bit high. They charge us for big coffee without saying. However recommended!

One day we returned to our hotel late and still needed to eat. The hotel staff suggested this "glass box" restaurant within walking distance. It was great local food and we enjoyed trying new meals. Be sure you ask for your check; they won't bring it (I think this is the local custom).

"Berta" is a Bistro& Bar that has recently opened at Hillel Street in the center of Jerusalem, and which offers 60 meters of interesting and attractive vintage design with a young and colorful atmosphere. The décor at "Berta" is calming and relaxing. The walls are covered with old-time news papers that reference the famous song "Café at Berta's" which gave the inspiration for the establishment's name. "Berta" offers a successful combination: at the day time it's a coffee house that serve breakfast as well with a huge porch overlooking the street, which serves excellent food, and at the evening we served dinner with good music and a large selection of alcohol, served until the little hours of the night when the last customer goes home happy hearted. The rich menu at "Berta" is dairy-based and includes top quality coffee, excellent deserts and pastries, salads, sandwiches, snacks, pasta dishes and soups at affordable prices. On the menu you will also find surprising dishes which change daily and which certainly justify coming back again and again. Conveniently, "Berta" is open every day, including Saturdays, from 09:00 a.m. Come on by, it'll be Berta!
