First time to review restaurants, apologies for any inconvenience, place is great "in old city" foods served hot direct from the Chechen variety of food is quite limed food quality is average price is expensive for this type of restaurant not even imagine to visit again.

This restaurant is situated a stones throw from Basilica Cistern in a quaint alleyway. We ordered a chicken clay pot as well as beef and lamb kebabs. The clay pot was very good but the kebabs were a little overcooked and a bit disappointing. Wonderful ambiance with good service. Food was moderately priced for the area.

I have always returned here and found the same wonderful waiter who gives excellent service. It was definitely better at lunchtime this time, maybe due to the staff at night having their own meal at the end of a day's fasting. It is lovely during the day to stop outside out of the heat and watch passersby while having a... More

After a morning at Grand Bazaar, we enjoyed a reasonably priced and delicious Turkish lunch (had the donar kabop) in quaint setting. Loved the ceiling of lamps. No hassling experienced here. Maybe because it was a rainy day! I wish these businesses luck...tourism is way down right now.

The usual hassle outside but they're all like that. However, inside, the hussle to buy whjat you don't want is awful. They're masters at manipulating group dynamics so everyone thought the others wanted everything. Promises free extras (appetizers, liquer afterwartds) which end up oin the bill, always with some weak story and pretend non-understanding. The worst is the wine list... More

Traditional Turkish and Ottoman food across from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Reserve ahead to get table with best view. We thought the food was better than Hamdi, which gets all the raves (and was very good). But the lamb here was cooked perfectly and the staff very friendly.

A real oasis in the middle of a hot day seeing the sites. We'd planned to go to another restaurant (a travel article suggested a place called Sultan Pub) nearby but stumbled across this place on the way, too weary to go further and drawn by shaded tables. Glad we did. Food was quick, tasty and good value. Local beer... More

Great service: friendly-no hassles Breathtaking view- what can be better than dining while viewing both the Haiga Sophia and the blue mosque at the same time. Meal: soo soo good. Just great. Go for the ottoman menu. We we had Turkish raviolis too. Price? 2 entrees appetizer and a bottle of sparkling water was $40.

We went in here because of their restaurant with a good view. The service was impressive and the food was tasty. There was also a good choice of drinks available.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
