I do not understand the negative rantings here. That was not our experience at all. The staff was friendly and prompt. My wife had lentil soup (very good) plus chicken shish (one of the best chicken we have had in the last month in Istanbul). I had the lamb shish (also very good). With drinks, it came to 50 TL,... We came to this place for dinner because a hotel staff member recommended it. I don't know why because at best it was average. The waiters were friendly but the food was mediocre. The mixed fish that we ordered, having had it described as "very delicious" was uninspiring, probably because it was over-cooked. It was also relatively expensive. You can... More

I have now tasted the most disgusting Kebap ever! Such a shame when you visit the country of Kebap, in one of the most touristic street of Istanbul. Go anywhere else, it can only be better!

Great spot for lunch but be careful when ordering - saying yes to everything the waiter recommends means your table will groan under the weight of the food! Not the cheapest but the food was good!

Very tasty and good quality of food. Rich variation of different salads, meats, soups, breads and desserts. Authentic and real balkan taste!

You will eat great Turkish food at Konak which is an old institutional restaurant. You can try the Turkish thin pizza, Lahmacun if you don't mind to eat sheep meat. All food are simple but good!

Food was warm, everyone smokes, the sound of television was higher than what i could hear accross the table, the waiter make us wait and had no attention whatsoever, and to complete, the waiter spilled food on a friend's jacket. Recommendation is not to go in there.

It is obvious this is a tourist restaurant with mediocre food and high prices. I arrived here because I was very hungry and I decided I will simply entry in the first restaurant that I see. The worst part is they do not inform you that the price for kebabs is per 100g. Then they ask you if you want... More

Tried to charge us the equivalent of £150 for two mediocre shish kebabs, a cup of tea and an unbelievably awful cup of 'nescafe' - so awful it takes some effort in a country such as Turkey, with such a rich culinary tradition. After challenging the 'mistake' the wee gangster manager and his staff became verbally aggressive. We argued 100... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
