I was never disappointed...authentic tasty Turkish cuisine in a traditional atmosphere...The owners family is cooking since the 1950th, which is in a certain sense a guaranty of top quality, especially as the restaurant is sucessful since then. The seasonal menu and the different dishes proposed are equally appreciated by foreigners and locals. We love it....try it out...

This place claims to serve Ottoman cuisine but the food was just run of the mill mediterranean and frankly, quite uninteresting. I ordered a potato salad with octopus and lamb stew. Octopus looked exciting as it was a hug leg on top of a heap of potato. But I was disappointed when I bit into it as it wasn't fresh... More

We were recommended both by our Hotel and Time Out to come here. Arrived a bit early and all looked good. Suggested some main dishes for us to order. We were given starters and told to eat them slowly! By 7.00 pm we had finished first course. After 20 mins we asked were our main course was. Told five minutes... More

Three of us, all American, went to Hunkar on the recommendation of our Turkish lawyer who said it was the best Ottoman food in the center of the city. The food was excellent but our waiter clearly saw that we were tourists and brought us twice as much food as we wanted, despite being told that we did not want... More

Most classical receipts of the turkish cuisine are served in a proper manner. The deco is suitable and very clean.

The good was fresh, quick and plenty to eat! We had good company & a very knowledgable waiter who know what was in the food etc. (important when all was in Turkish).

This restaurant has its fanatic following and then there are the rest of us...It offers decent turkish food, but the taste does nor merit a special distinction among the thousands of other decent restaurants in Istanbul...

Traditional Turkish food. Great chef, Feridun Ugumi. You can select your dishes from the kitchen display. If you need info, it will be provided in English.

Location - The restaurant is situated on a lovely street in Istanbul, very quiet. The restaurant is enclosed on a lower level and therefore you are not disturbed by passers by - you really absorb the busy, Turkish waiting skills! Food - the food was amazing. I ordered the set/many course menu and they were very attentive to make sure... More

Staying in Sisli

Neighbourhood Profile
For much of Istanbul’s history, Sisli and the area just north of Taksim Square were open countryside used mostly as hunting grounds. These days, Sisli and its chic streets are considered the very heart of contemporary Istanbuli life, where an epicenter of fashion and a thriving business district meet to create an expressly “downtown” feel. Though largely a residential neighborhood, luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and upscale shops abound with many of them situated inside or nearby Cevahir Istanbul, the biggest shopping mall in Europe and second biggest urban shopping mall in the world. Shopaholics and fashionistas travel from near and far to browse the area's mix of major global brand items and creations by popular Turkish designers.
