The food was excellent, the service good, the atmosphere peaceful and the surroundings comfortable. The only reason I have knocked a star off is because it is on the pricey side. Similar quality can be had nearby at better prices.

The breakfast for two that we had featured many small dishes spread across the table. My boyfriend and I both agree that it's the best breakfast we have ever had, with the most beautiful ambience. Favourite in istanbul!

I love Café Privato! The food is perfect, the crockery is exquisite, the staff are really friendly and helpful. It has a great view of Galata tower. I would eat breakfast there every day if I could.

Situated in a side alley in the lively galata district, privato is a hidden gem. Personnel - although working very long hours - keep up their friendly, warmhearted mood. All food & drinks organic and authentic, cosy athmosphere. Had excellent turkish breakfast in the morning and manti, local ravioli, in the evening - all delicious. Prices rather on the upper... Comfortable place with good service. If you get a table overlooking Galata Tower, you'll enjoy a great view. Breakfast is a mix of cheeses, jams, egg, breads and fruit. This is my first day, so I can't yet tell if it's authentic or pricy by Istanbul standards, but I enjoyed as my first stop. Service is good. I'm on my... More

Sat in Cafe Privato. Ordered the village breakfast. Mountains of gorgeous food. The jams are particularly good as not too sweet, more like stewed fruit.

We got there just after they opened and ordered the Sultan's breakfast. Great array of different and unusual (to a British palate) savoury and sweet dishes. Everything is home made and organic and there were some delicious things to try. They don't quite get the concept of jam though. We would call it stewed fruit as they don't add the... More

We stumbled upon Privato on our first day wandering around Istanbul and went back twice more over the week. The vibe was relaxed and friendly with small tables in the sun out back and couches under heaters at the front. The staff are super nice, the manager is real welcoming. The food is delicious including, menemen, fresh orange juice and... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
