Very upscale indoor and outdoor seating with big radiant heater to keep the patio warm. We ordered hummus, Grilled and stuffed vegetables and a lamb kebab. The stuffed vegetables was the stand out dish, hummus and kebabs were ok though the portion size of the kebabs was rather small. The service was excellent. Also had 'raki' - the local drink... More

Was not crowded at all when we went..... 7 PM on a Friday night. To be honest there were very few people there (April 2016) compared to the first time we were in Istanbul April 2015. Service good, food OK and the 2 bottles of wine suggested by the waiter were fantastic! LOL! Overall I know it wasn't the fault... More

This restaurant is a bit away from the big streets, but it's definitely worth the trip. Excellent food, especially testi kebab. Go there to get know to the local food in comfortable and uncrowded place

We spent 8 days in Istanbul and visited many restaurants....Yes there are so many in Istanbul and generally most are good. Khorasani was one that stands out with delicious food, good service and atmosphere. The Hummus was fantastic. There were six of us and we managed to order quite a selection....they are all good.

We were referred to this wonderful restaurant by some local folks we met via our hotel. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is lovely. Thank you Mehmet for your wonderful service today. We wish you and the rest of Istanbul a peaceful new year! We will definitely stop by on our next visit to Istanbul.

The restaurant is located on a tiny picturesque street. The food was great and there were a lot of choices on the menu, including some vegetarian-friendly dishes.

Best meal we had in Istanbul. Excellent food in the Sultanahmet district. Probably a tourist location as our hotel concierge recommended this; doesn't matter to me the food was memorable.

Hard to distinguish one restaurant from another on this row of many Turkish restaurants, but thanks to Trip Advisor I had lunch at Khorasani and made the right pick. I'm merely validating what others have said here -- excellent Turkish food, friendly service and excellent location. I ate there for lunch but it is probably a great destination for dinner... More

"Ask most tourism representatives, restaurateurs, and waiters in Old Istanbul to recommend a restaurant, and most will offer Khorasani Kebab&Grill and Steak House. This restaurant has been a part of the Sultanahmet gastronomy scene for many years and is famed for its Turkish BBQ (the ocakbaşi), tender kebabs, and freshly prepared mezes. While the menu caters to a range of culinary interests, if you want a unique dining experience then ask to pick out your mezes and kebabs from the kitchen counter and have the chef cook your kebab over the BBQ's open fire inside the restaurant. Another popular dish from the coals of the BBQ is the Testi Kebab. As featured in New Zealand's World Kitchen TV show, this flavored meat and vegetable casserole is sealed in a clay pot, slowly cooked over the BBQ coals, and cracked open before the eyes of diners. Check out the video under "We in Press" on the Khorasani website for more information about the kebab from Central Anatolia. Khorasani also has a great wine menu and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Afar.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
